Additive injection pump (1283)
Role
The additive injection pump delivers a precise quantity of additive under pressure into the additive circuit
Description
| "a" | outlet to fuel additive injection valve |
|---|---|
| "b" | connector |
| (6) | positive displacement metering pump |
The fuel additive pump is a positive displacement metering pump
The quantity of additive delivered depends on the unit capacity of the positive displacement metering pump
The unit capacity of the positive displacement metering pump is 6,45 mm3
As a function of the quantity of fuel added, the fuel additive ECU (1282) determines the quantity of fuel additive to be injected into the fuel tank
The fuel additive ECU (1282) controls the volumetric metering pump by means of an OCR signal
Note1 pulse of the OCR signal = one injection of a capacity of 6,45 mm3
NoteOCR: opening cyclic ratio
NoteThe amount is specific to engine DW10BTED4: 12 PPM
Fuel additive pump connector
| channel of the fuel additive pump connector | signal | terminal at the fuel additive ECU (1282) |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | - | - |
| 2 | - | - |
| 3 | RCO signal | 9 |
| 4 | earth | 10 |
The fuel additive pump (1283) is controlled by an OCR signal
Features of the OCR signal
- Opening ratio of 50%
- Frequency of the OCR signal 66,67Hz
- Amplitude of the OCR signal 12 volts
NoteIn order to calculate the number of impulsions necessary to prime the additive circuit, the fuel additive ECU has to know the length of the pipe linking the injection pump and the valve
Location
The pump is submerged in the additive tank
NoteThe pump cannot be separated from the additive tank
Factory filler union (safety valve)
Role
Role of the union
- Sealing function (prevents evaporation of solvent, ingress of dust, mud and water)
- Damping of overpressure
- Set to atmospheric pressure
Description
Vacuum valve (0 to -0,02 bar)
Overpressure valve (0,05 to 0,07 bar)
Valve
Role
The valve ensures that a defined quantity of additive is injected into the fuel tank
Description
| "c" | fuel additive supply pipe |
|---|---|
| "d" | fuel additive outlet into the diesel fuel tank |
NoteThe additive injection valve is not an electrical component
Pressure of the fuel additive injection valve
- 0,1 bar (relative pressure)
- 1,1 bar absolute pressure
Location
The valve is installed on the fuel tank
Fuel tank cap presence sensor (4320)
Role
The fuel filler cap presence sensor informs the additive ECU whether the filler cap is open or closed
Role of the additive ECU depending on the information received: to detect that fuel may be added
Description
(8) permanent magnet
(7) contact
The filler cap is fitted with a magnet and when the cap is closed, the magnet is opposite the contact
Electrical special features
Supply: Fuel additive ECU
Allocation of channels of connector
- Terminal 1: 5 volts supply
- Terminal 2: signal
- Presence of the magnet opposite the contact: resistance = 150 000 ohms
- Absence of the magnet opposite the contact: resistance = 15 ohms
Fuel gauge (1211)
Role
The fuel sender informs the additive ECU of a variation in fuel level through the built-in systems interface
Role of the additive ECU depending on the information received
- Determine the amount of additive to be injected
- To control the additive injection pump
