Special tools and workshop equipment required
- Oil Collecting and Extracting Device V.A.G 1782
Removing
Remove the rear engine cover -top arrows-.
Scheme 22
Remove the oil filter element.
Extract the oil from the oil filter housing using the V.A.G 1782.
Remove the strut tower brace. Refer to Removal and Installation .
Scheme 23
Remove the electrical connectors -1 through 4- from the bracket and press to the side.
Scheme 24
Remove the bolts -arrows-, free up the bracket and remove it.
Note. To collect escaping engine oil, place a clean cloth under oil filter housing.
Disconnect the electrical connector -arrow- on the oil pressure switch -F22-.
Scheme 25
Remove the bolts -2- and push the secondary air pipe toward the rear.
Scheme 26
Note. Ignore -1-.
Remove the bolts -arrows-.
Scheme 27
Remove the nut -1- and double bolt and then remove the oil filter housing.
Installing
- For the correct tightening specifications, refer to «OIL FILTER HOUSING AND OIL PRESSURE SWITCH OVERVIEW»(ref-515405-S24594246082012120300000) .
Install in reverse order, paying attention to the following
Note. Replace the sealing ring, the seal and the O-ring.
Install the secondary air hose. Refer to SECONDARY AIR INJECTION SYSTEM OVERVIEW .
Install the tower brace. Refer to Removal and Installation .
Install the oil filter, fill with oil and then check the oil level.
