Front Bumper Removal/Installation

Note. Put on gloves to protect your hands Have an assistant help you when removing and installing the front bumper Take care not to scratch the front bumper or the body When prying with a flat-tip screwdriver, wrap it with protective tape to prevent damage

  1. Disconnect the outside temperature sensor connector (A) from under the front bumper (B)
  2. Remove these items Front bulkhead cover (see «ENGINE COMPARTMENT COVER REPLACEMENT»(/acura/tl/iv-2008-2011/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#exterior-trim__engine-compartment-cover-replacement) ) Front air guide plate (see «FRONT AIR GUIDE PLATE REPLACEMENT»(/acura/tl/iv-2008-2011/remont/exterior-body-panels/#fenderwell__front-air-guide-plate-replacement) ) Front strakes (see «FRONT AIR GUIDE PLATE REPLACEMENT»(/acura/tl/iv-2008-2011/remont/exterior-body-panels/#fenderwell__front-air-guide-plate-replacement) )
  3. Remove the bolts (A, B), the screws (C), and the clips (D) securing the front bumper (E) NOTE: To release the clips, pry up on the center pin at the notch (F)
  4. Pull on the front bumper (A) at the wheel arch areas to release it from the hooks (six places) (B) on the side spacers (C)
  5. With the help of an assistant, pull both sides of the bumper (A) away from the side spacers (B) Then pull the bumper out to release the hooks (C) from the upper beam (D)
  6. Hold up the bumper (A), and detach the harness clips (B) Disconnect the front turn signal connectors (C), the fog light connectors (D), and, if equipped, the headlight washer tube (E) Release the projection (F) from the bulkhead (G), then remove the bumper
  7. Install the bumper in the reverse order of removal, and note these items If the clips are damaged or stress-whitened, replace them with new ones Make sure the outside temperature sensor, the front turn signal connectors, and the front fog light connectors are plugged in properly, and if equipped, the headlight washer tube is connected properly Make sure the front bumper engages the hooks (on the upper beam and the side spacers) on each side securely Push the clips and the hooks into place securely

Lower Front Bumper Grille Replacement

Note. Use the appropriate tool from the KTC trim tool set to avoid damage when removing components Put on gloves to protect your hands Take care not to scratch the front bumper

Scheme 16: Lower Front Bumper Grille Replacement
  1. Remove the front bumper (see «FRONT BUMPER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(/acura/tl/iv-2008-2011/remont/exterior-body-panels/#bumper-system__front-bumper-removalinstallation) )
  2. If equipped, remove the headlight washer tube, as needed (see «HEADLIGHT WASHER (CANADA MODELS WITH SH-AWD)»(/acura/tl/iv-2008-2011/remont/wiperwasher-systems/#wiper-system-washer-system) )
  3. Remove the screws from back of the front bumper (A), and release the hooks (B, C, D), then remove the lower front bumper grille (E) and the fog light housing (F)
  4. Install the grille in the reverse order of removal, and push the hooks into place securely

Rear Bumper Removal/Installation

Note. Put on gloves to protect your hands Have an assistant help you when removing and installing the rear bumper Take care not to scratch the rear bumper or the body

  1. Remove the screws (A, B) and the clips (C) securing the rear bumper (D)
  2. Pull on the rear bumper (A) at the wheel arch areas to release it from the hooks (nine places) (B) on the side spacer (C)
  3. With the help of an assistant, pull out one side of the rear bumper (A) to release the hooks (B) on the rear spacer (C) as shown Repeat this step on the opposite side
  4. With the help of an assistant, pull out the rear bumper to release the bumper (A) from the hooks (six places) (B) on the upper brackets (C) Disconnect the rear license plate light connectors (D)
  5. Install the bumper in the reverse order of removal, and note these items Make sure the rear bumper engages the hooks (of both side spacers and rear spacers) on each side securely If the clips are damaged or stress-whitened, replace them with new ones Push the clips and the hooks into place securely Make sure the rear license plate light connectors are plugged in properly

Scheme 21: Rear Bumper Upper Center Trim Replacement
  1. Remove the rear bumper (see «REAR BUMPER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(/acura/tl/iv-2008-2011/remont/exterior-body-panels/#bumper-system__rear-bumper-removalinstallation) )
  2. Release the 14 hooks (A), then remove the rear bumper upper center trim (B)
  3. Install the trim in the reverse order of removal, and push the hooks into place securely

Rear Bumper Reflector Replacement

  2. Remove the screws, and release the hooks (A), then remove the rear bumper reflector (B) from the rear bumper (C)
  3. Install the reflector in the reverse order of removal, and push the hooks into place securely
