- Remove these items Rear seat cushion (see «REAR SEAT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(/acura/tl/iv-2008-2011/remont/seats/#seats__rear-seat-removalinstallation) ) Rear door opening seal, as needed (see step 5 on «TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - PILLAR AREAS»(/acura/tl/iv-2008-2011/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim__trim-removalinstallation-pillar-areas) ) C-pillar trim, both sides (see «C-PILLAR TRIM»(/acura/tl/iv-2008-2011/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim__c-pillar-trim) ) Rear center seat belt lower anchor (see «CENTER SEAT BELT AND SEAT BELT BUCKLES»(/acura/tl/iv-2008-2011/remont/restraints-control-systems/#seat-belt-system) ) Rear shelf (see «TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - REAR SHELF AREA»(/acura/tl/iv-2008-2011/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim__trim-removalinstallation-rear-shelf-area) )
- Pull back the rear panel cap (A) to detach the hooks (B), then remove the cap
- Slightly loosen the trunk lid hinge bolts (C) and the striker bolts (D)
- Adjust the trunk lid (E) alignment in the following sequence Adjust the trunk lid hinges (F) right and left, as well as forward and rearward, by using the elongated holes Take care not to hit the rear window when loosening the bolts Turn the trunk lid edge cushions (G), in or out as necessary, to make the trunk lid fit flush with the body at the rear and side edges Adjust the fit between the trunk lid and the trunk lid latch by moving the striker (H)
- Tighten the bolts to the specified torque
- Make sure the trunk lid opens properly and locks securely
- Reinstall all removed parts

- Remove the trunk side trim panels from both sides (see «TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - TRUNK AREA»(/acura/tl/iv-2008-2011/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim__trim-removalinstallation-trunk-area) )
- Put on gloves to protect your hands Remove the torsion bars with the torsion bar assembly tool from both trunk lid hinges First remove the left torsion bar (A), then remove the right torsion bar (B)
- Install the torsion bars in the reverse order of removal, and note these items

- The shapes of the right torsion bar (A) and the left torsion bar (B) are shown Install the torsion bars properly
- Adjust the torsion bars forward or rearward with the torsion bar assembly tool
- The torsion bars ware installed at the factory at the normal position as shown
- Make sure the trunk lid opens properly and locks securely

- Remove the trunk lid weatherstrip (A) by pulling it off
- Locate the painted alignment mark (B or C) on the trunk lid weatherstrip Align the painted mark in the center of the trunk lid opening, and install the trunk lid weatherstrip all the way around in the direction shown Make sure there are no wrinkles in the weatherstrip
- Check for water leaks (see step 9 on «DOOR GLASS ADJUSTMENT»(/acura/tl/iv-2008-2011/remont/exterior-body-panels/#door-system__door-glass-adjustment) )

- Remove the trunk lid cushion (A) by pulling it out to detach the clips
- Install the trunk lid cushion by pushing on the clip portions until the clips snap into place
Note. Put on gloves to protect your hands Take care not to scratch the body Take care not to kink the trunk lid opener cable

- Disconnect the trunk lid opener cable (A) from the latch (B) (see «TRUNK LID LATCH REPLACEMENT»(/acura/tl/iv-2008-2011/remont/exterior-body-panels/#trunk-lid) )
- Use a clip remover to release the clips (C, D, E)
- Remove the trunk lid opener cable (A) from the opener cable bracket (B)
- Use a clip remover to release the clips (C, D)
- Remove the trunk lid opener cable from the vehicle
- Install the opener cable in the reverse order of removal, and note these items
Scheme 143
- Align the marks (A) on the opener cable (B) with the cable clips (C) as shown
- If the clips are damaged or stress-whitened, replace them with new ones
- Push the clips into place securely
- Make sure the trunk lid opens properly and locks securely

- Remove the trunk lid trim panel (see step 3 on «TRUNK LID HINGE TRIM»(/acura/tl/iv-2008-2011/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim__trunk-lid-hinge-trim) )
- Insert a trim tool through the latch cover (A) opening, and pry on the cover to release the latch tabs (B) Pull on the cover, and release the projection (C), then remove the cover
- Disconnect the trunk lid latch connector (D), and remove the bolts, then remove the trunk lid latch
- Note the position of the manual trunk lid opener cable end (A) in the trunk lid latch (B), then remove the cable from the latch Take care not to kink the cable
- Install the latch in the reverse order of removal, and note these items
Scheme 146
- Make sure the connector is plugged in properly and the opener cable is connected properly
- Make sure the trunk lid opens properly and locks securely
- Reinstall the manual trunk lid opener cable end (A) back to the position noted in step 4 Check the operation of the manual trunk lid opener, by pulling on the rubber tab inside the pass through opening If necessary, adjust the cable end position
