Front Door Panel Removal/Installation

- Push on the upper hook (A) with the appropriate trim tool, then pull back the inner handle cap (B) to remove it.
- Remove the screws securing the inner handle (A)
- Remove the door grip trim (A) Insert the appropriate trim tool into the notch (B), and pry out along the edge of the trim to release the hooks (C) Pull up the trim to release the hook (D)
- Remove the screw
- Release the hooks (A), and remove the front pull pocket cap (B), then remove the screw
- From under the armrest, pry out at the notch (A) with the appropriate trim tool, and open the pocket cap (B), then remove the screw
- Remove the door panel (A) with as little bending as possible to avoid creasing or breaking it Start at the bottom edge of the door panel, release the clips (B) with a commercially available trim pad remover Detach the upper clips (C) Release the door panel from the metal clips (D) attached to the door glass inner weatherstrip Starting at the rear, pull the door panel out NOTE: The inner handle cable (E) and the latch cable (F) are connected to the inner handle (G) Do not pull the door panel up too far, or these cables will be damaged
- While holding the door panel (A) away from the door, detach the clips by pulling the inner handle (B) out, then remove the inner handle from the door panel
- While holding the door panel (A) away from the door, remove these items Driver's door Disconnect the driver's door wire harness connectors (B, C) Passenger's door Detach the harness clip (D), then disconnect the power window switch connector (E) and the courtesy light connector (F) NOTE: If you are only removing the door panel, go to step 14 If you are doing further disassembly of the door panel, continue to step 10 Driver's door Passenger's door Inner handle removal
- Disconnect the inner handle cable (A) and the latch cable (B) from the inner handle (C), then remove the handle Detach the inner handle cable fasteners (D, E), then disconnect the inner handle cable from the cable fasteners Detach the latch cable fastener (F), and remove the latch cable fastener (G) from the inner handle by pinching its tabs together NOTE: If the cable fasteners are damaged or stress-whitened, replace them with new ones Door end trim removal
- Remove the screw (A), and detach the clips (B), then remove the door end trim (C) by pulling back the trim The clips (D) will stay in the door NOTE: If the clips are damaged or stress-whitened, replace them with new ones Install the clips on the door end trim before installing the trim on the door Armrest assembly/grip assembly removal
- Remove the armrest/grip assembly (A) from the door panel (B) Disconnect the door subharness connector (C), and, on the driver's side, disconnect the seat position memory switch connector (D) and the power mirror switch connector (E) Remove the screws from back of the door panel and the front of the grip trim Pull out along the edge of the armrest/grip assembly to release the hooks (F)
- Remove the screws, then separate the armrest assembly (A) and the grip assembly (B)
- Install the door panel in the reverse order of removal, and note these items
- If the clips are damaged or stress-whitened, replace them with new ones
- Replace any damaged cable fasteners with new ones
- The latch cable (A) should be fixed to the cable fastener (B) with the latch in the unlocked position as shown
- Make sure the connectors are plugged in properly, and the cables are connected securely
- Make sure the window and power door lock operate properly
- Make sure the plastic cover on the door is installed properly and sealed around its outside perimeter to seal out water

- Raise the glass fully
- Disconnect the power door lock actuator connector (A), and detach the harness clip (B)
- Remove the rear plug cap (C), then remove the plastic cover (D) as needed NOTE: If the plastic cover is damaged or torn, replace it
- Driver's door Pull both side flanges (A) of the retainer (B) outward, and pull the middle flange portion (C) of the outer casing cover (D) out, then disconnect the cylinder cable (E) from the latch
- While holding the outer handle cover (A), loosen the bolt until it can be pulled out half-way by hand (driver's door), or remove the bolt (passenger's door) Release the hooks (B) of the outer handle cover, then remove the cover Driver's door Passenger's door
- Release the hooks (A), then remove the lock cylinder (B) (driver's door) or the outer handle holder (C) (passenger's door) from the outer handle base (D) Driver's door Passenger's door
- Driver's door: If the retainer (A) of the lock cylinder cable (B) is damaged, release the hooks (C), then replace it.
- Disconnect the door outer handle 8P connector (A) from the inside of the door (for some models) Pull the outer handle (B) back, and out as shown to remove it from the door Take care not to scratch the door
- Release the hooks (A, B), then remove the outer handle front seal (C) and the outer handle rear seal (D)
- For some models: Detach the harness clips (A).
- Remove the hole seal (A).
- Remove the outer handle base (A) Detach the rod fastener (B) Disconnect the outer handle rod (C) with a clip remover Loosen the nut Release the hook (D), and slide the outer handle base forward to release the special bolt (E) from the door panel
- Remove the rod fastener (A) from the outer handle base (B), then replace it with a new one
- Install the handle in the reverse order of removal, and note these items Push the clips and the hooks into place securely. - Pull the glass run channel (A) away as needed, and remove the bolt, then remove the center lower channel (B) by pulling it downward
- Remove the screws (A, B) securing the latch (C), then remove the latch through the hole in the door Take care not to bend the outer handle rod (D), the latch cable (E), or the inner handle cable (F)
- Remove the foam seals (A, B) from the latch protector (C) and the latch (D)
- Remove the screw, then remove the latch protector (A) by releasing the hook (B)
- Disconnect the latch cable (A) and the inner handle cable (B) from the latch (C)
- Install the latch in the reverse order of removal, and note these items
- Before reinstalling the latch protector, clean the latch and the latch protector surfaces with isopropyl alcohol where the new foam seals will be attached
- After reinstalling the latch protector to the latch, attach the new foam seals to the protector and the latch
- Make sure the actuator connector is plugged in properly, and the rod and the cables are connected securely
- Make sure the power door locks and opens properly
- Make sure the plastic cover on the door is installed properly and sealed around its outside perimeter to seal out water
Front Door Glass and Regulator Replacement

- Remove the screws, then remove the door panel bracket (A)
- Remove the plastic cover (A). Disconnect the power door lock actuator connector (B), and detach the harness clip (C). Remove the plug caps (D). Pass the wire harnesses (E) through the slits (F) in the plastic cover, then remove the cover NOTE: If the plastic cover is damaged or torn, replace it
- Detach the harness clip (A) Loosen the bolt (B), and remove the bolt (C), then remove the door panel bracket (D)
- Carefully lower the glass (A) until you can see the bolts, then remove them Carefully pull the glass out through the window slot Take care not to drop the glass inside the door.
- Disconnect the connector (A) from the regulator (B)
- Remove the bolts (C), and loosen the bolt (D) Release the hook (E), then remove the regulator through the hole in the door
- Apply multipurpose grease to all the sliding surfaces of the regulator (A) where shown
- Install the glass and regulator in the reverse order of removal, and note these items
- If the clips are damaged or stress-whitened, replace them with new ones.
- Push the clips and the hook into place securely.
- Make sure the connectors are plugged in properly.
- Roll the glass up and down to make sure it moves freely without binding
- Make sure that there is no clearance between the glass and the glass run channel when the glass is closed
- Adjust the position of the glass as necessary (see «DOOR GLASS ADJUSTMENT»(/acura/tl/iv-2008-2011/remont/exterior-body-panels/#door-system__door-glass-adjustment) )
- Do the power window control unit reset procedure (see «RESETTING THE POWER WINDOW CONTROL UNIT»(/acura/tl/iv-2008-2011/remont/windows/#power-window-system__resetting-the-power-window-control-unit) )
- Make sure the plastic cover on the door is installed properly and sealed around its outside perimeter to seal out water
- Check for water leaks (see step 10 )
- Test-drive the vehicle, and check for wind noise and rattles
- Make sure the power door locks, the windows, and the power mirror operate properly
Front Door Sash Inner Trim Replacement

- Install the front door glass outer weatherstrip, and slide the clips securely on to the flanges
- Reinstall all remaining removed parts

- Carefully remove the remaining double-sided adhesive tape from the sash, then clean the sash surface with a shop towel dampened in isopropyl alcohol
- Install the new door outer molding in the reverse order of removal, and note these items
- Push the adhesive portions into place securely
- Make sure the upper and lower sides of the molding are catching the edges of the sash properly
- Push the door weatherstrip clip and hook into place securely
Front Door Weatherstrip Replacement
Note. Put on gloves to protect your hands Take care not to scratch the door Take care not to damage the front upper corner hook and the rear upper corner clip (black) because they are not available separately Use a clip remover to remove the clips

- Remove the door checker mounting bolt (A) at the A-pillar
- Release the hook (B) and detach the clips (C, D, E, F, G) Then release the door weatherstrip (H) from the holder (I) on the door sash, and remove the weatherstrip
- Install the weatherstrip in the reverse order of removal, and note these items
- If the clips are damaged or stress-whitened, replace them with new ones
- Push the clips and the hook into place securely
- Make sure the weatherstrip is installed in the holder securely
- Apply medium strength liquid thread lock to the door checker mounting bolt before installation
- Check for water leaks (see step 10 )

- Lower the glass (A) until you can see the bolts, then remove them. Release the glass from the holder (B), then remove it from the regulator (C), and carefully lower the glass. Take care not to drop the glass inside the door.
- Remove the bolts (A, B) and the collar (C) from the rear lower channel (D) Pull the door weatherstrip (E) away as needed, and remove the screw (F)
- Pull the glass run channel (A) away as needed. Pull the rear lower channel (B) forward from the quarter glass seal (C), then release the upper hook (D) from the door Remove the rear lower channel from the rear door glass (E), then pull the channel up to remove it.
- Remove the rear lower channel (A) from the glass run channel (B)
- Carefully remove the glass (A) out through the window slot Take care not to drop the glass inside the door
- Pull back the rear pillar inner trim (A) to release the hooks (B), then remove the trim. Remove the screws securing the quarter glass (C).
- Starting at the rear, pull the door inner weatherstrip (A) up, then remove it
- Remove the quarter glass (A). Take care not to damage the outer weatherstrip (B).
- Disconnect the connector (A) from the regulator (B)
- Remove the bolts (C), and loosen the bolt (D). Release the hook (E), then remove the regulator through the hole in the door
- Apply multipurpose grease to all the sliding surfaces of the regulator (A) where shown
- Install the glass and the regulator in the reverse order of removal, and note these items
- If the clip is damaged or stress-whitened, replace it with a new one
- Push the hooks into place securely
- Make sure the connectors are plugged in properly
- Make sure that there is no clearance between the glass and the glass run channel when the glass is closed
- Roll the glass up and down to make sure it moves freely without binding
- Adjust the position of the glass as necessary (see «DOOR GLASS ADJUSTMENT»(/acura/tl/iv-2008-2011/remont/exterior-body-panels/#door-system__door-glass-adjustment) )
- Make sure the power door locks and power windows operate properly
- Make sure the plastic cover on the door is installed properly and sealed around its outside perimeter to seal out water
- Check for water leaks (see step 10 )
- Test-drive the vehicle, and check for wind noise and rattles
Rear Door Pad Replacement

- Detach the clips with a clip remover, then remove the door pad (A) from the door
- Install the pad in the reverse order of removal, and note these items
- Push the clips into place securely
- Make sure the plastic cover on the door is installed properly and sealed around its outside perimeter to seal out water
Rear Door Sash Inner Trim Replacement
Note. Take care not to scratch the door

- Remove the rear door sash inner trim (A) Detach the clips Pull back along the outside edge of the trim to release the hook strip (B) from the door glass opening flange at the B-pillar portion of the door sash Pull back along the outside edge of the trim to release the hook strips (C) from the door glass opening flange at the roof portion and the quarter glass portion of the door sash If necessary, release the clip (D) from the door panel
- Install the trim in the reverse order of removal, and note these items
- If the clips are damaged or stress-whitened, replace them with new ones
- Push the hook strips and the clips into place securely
Rear Door Sash Outer Trim Replacement

- Raise the glass fully
- Remove the screws (A, B)
- From the inside of the door, slide the clips (A) on the door glass outer weatherstrip (B) to release the hooks (C) from the flanges (D) on the door panel
- Pull up the door glass outer weatherstrip (A), then remove the weatherstrip
- If the clips are damaged or stress-whitened, replace them with new ones
- Before installing the weatherstrip, slide the clips to the released position as in step 4
- Install the rear door glass outer weatherstrip, and slide the clips securely on to the flanges
- Reinstall all remaining removed parts

Rear Door Outer Molding Replacement

Note. If you remove the door outer molding, replace it with a new one because it will bend during removal Put on gloves to protect your hands Take care not to scratch the door Use the appropriate tool from the KTC trim tool set to avoid damage when removing components

- Remove the rear pillar inner trim (see step 12 )
- Detach the clips (A, B) with a clip remover, and release the hook (C) Pull back the door weatherstrip (D), then remove the screws (E, F)
- Pull out the upper edge of the door outer molding (A) from the edge of the sash, and cut the double-sided adhesive tape (B) with a utility knife, then remove the molding from the sash
- Carefully remove the remaining double-sided adhesive tape from the sash, then clean the sash surface with a shop towel dampened in isopropyl alcohol
- Install the new door outer molding in the reverse order of removal, and note these items
- Push the adhesive portions and the bottom hook portion into place securely
- Make sure the upper and lower sides of the molding are catching the edges of the sash properly
- Push the door weatherstrip clips into place securely
- Make sure the plastic cover on the door is installed properly and sealed around its outside perimeter to seal out water
Rear Door Weatherstrip Replacement
Note. Put on gloves to protect your hands Take care not to scratch the door Take care not to damage the front upper corner clip (black) and the rear upper corner clips (black) because they are not available separately Use a clip remover to remove the clips

- Remove the rear pillar inner trim (see step 12 )
- Remove the door checker mounting bolt (A) at the B-pillar
- Remove the door weatherstrip (B) Detach the clips (C, D, E, F, G) Release the hook (H) Release the weatherstrip from the holder (I) on the door sash
- Install the weatherstrip in the reverse order of removal, and note these items
- If the clips are damaged or stress-whitened, replace them with new ones
- Push the clips and hook into place securely
- Make sure the weatherstrip is installed in the holder securely
- Apply medium strength liquid thread lock to the door checker mounting bolt before installation
- Check for water leaks (see step 10 )
Door Glass Adjustment
Note. Check the weatherstrip and the glass run channel for damage or deterioration, and replace them if necessary

- Place the vehicle on a firm, level surface

Door Position Adjustment

- Place the vehicle on a firm, level surface when adjusting the doors
- Adjust at the hinges (A) Pad a floor jack (B) with shop towels (C), then use the jack to support the door while adjusting it. On the front door Remove the front inner fender (see «FRONT INNER FENDER REPLACEMENT»(/acura/tl/iv-2008-2011/remont/exterior-body-panels/#fenderwell__front-inner-fender-replacement) ) and the front fender fairing (see «FRONT BRAKE DUCT REPLACEMENT»(/acura/tl/iv-2008-2011/remont/exterior-body-panels/#fenderwell__front-brake-duct-replacement) ) Loosen the hinge mounting bolts (D) slightly, and move the door backward or forward, up or down as necessary to equalize the gaps On the rear door Loosen the hinge mounting bolts (E) slightly, and move the door backward or forward, up or down as necessary to equalize the gaps Front door Rear door
- If necessary, replace the door mounting bolts with the adjusting bolts made specifically for door adjustment, then adjust at the door. Loosen the door mounting bolts (F) slightly, and move the door up or down as necessary to equalize the gaps, and move it in or out until it's flush with the body
- Check that the door and body edges are parallel. If necessary, adjust the door cushions (A) to make the rear of the doors flush with the body
- Apply touch-up paint to the hinge mounting bolts and around the hinges
- Check for water leaks (see step 10 )
Door Striker Adjustment
Make sure the door latches securely without slamming it. If necessary, adjust the striker (A): The striker can be adjusted slightly up or down, and in or out

- Release the hooks (B), then remove the striker trim (C)
- Loosen but do not remove the screws (A)
- Wrap the striker with a shop towel, then adjust the striker (B) by tapping it with a plastic hammer (C). Do not hit the striker too hard
- Lightly tighten the screws
- Hold the outer handle out, and push the door against the body to be sure the striker allows a flush fit If the door latches properly, tighten the screws to the specified torque, and recheck
- Install the striker trim
