  1. Remove these items Engine compartment cover (see «ENGINE COMPARTMENT COVER REPLACEMENT»(/acura/tl/iv-2008-2011/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#exterior-trim__engine-compartment-cover-replacement) ) Cowl cover (see «FRONT BULKHEAD BRACE COVER REPLACEMENT»(/acura/tl/iv-2008-2011/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#exterior-trim__front-bulkhead-brace-cover-replacement) ) Front bulkhead center cover (see step 2 on «HOOD LATCH REPLACEMENT»(/acura/tl/iv-2008-2011/remont/exterior-body-panels/#hood) )
  2. Slightly loosen the hood hinge mounting bolts (A) and hood latch mounting bolts (B)
  3. Adjust the hood (C) alignment in the following sequence Adjust the hood right and left, as well as forward and rearward, by using the elongated holes in the hood hinges (D) Turn the hood edge cushions (E), as necessary, to make the hood fit flush with the body at the front and side edges
  4. Adjust the hood latch (F) to obtain the proper height at the forward edge, and move the hood latch right or left until the striker (G) is centered in the hood latch
  5. Tighten the bolts to the specified torque
  6. Check that the hood opens properly and closes securely
  7. Apply touch-up paint to the hinge mounting bolts and around the hinges, and let the paint dry
  8. Apply multipurpose grease to the hood latch and the hood hinges as indicated by the arrows
  9. Reinstall all of the removed parts

Scheme 150: Hood Seal Replacement
  1. Remove the hood seals (A, B) from all of the hooks
  2. Install the seal in the reverse order of removal

Note. Take care not to scratch the hood.

Scheme 151: Hood Insulator Replacement
  1. Detach the clips with a clip remover Remove the insulator (A) by pulling it away from the hooks (B) Take care not to scratch the hood
  2. Install the insulator in the reverse order of removal, and note these items If the clips are damaged or stress-whitened, replace them with new ones Push the clips and the hooks into place securely

Scheme 152: Hood Support Strut Replacement
  1. While an assistant supports the hood, use a flat-tip screwdriver (A) wrapped with protective tape to pry out the clips (B) on both ends of the hood support struts (C), and then remove the support struts from the pivot bolts (D) Do not remove the clips from the struts NOTE: Use eye protection when doing this procedure
  2. Push the clips back into their original position, and then push the ends of the struts onto the pivots bolts

Note. Put on gloves to protect your hands Take care not to scratch the body and the related parts Take care not to kink the hood opener cable

  1. Remove these items Front bulkhead cover (see «ENGINE COMPARTMENT COVER REPLACEMENT»(/acura/tl/iv-2008-2011/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#exterior-trim__engine-compartment-cover-replacement) ) Front inner fender, driver's side as needed (see «FRONT INNER FENDER REPLACEMENT»(/acura/tl/iv-2008-2011/remont/exterior-body-panels/#fenderwell__front-inner-fender-replacement) ) Kick panel, driver's side (see «TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - DOOR AREAS»(/acura/tl/iv-2008-2011/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim__trim-removalinstallation-door-areas) ) Front bulkhead center cover (see «HOOD LATCH REPLACEMENT»(/acura/tl/iv-2008-2011/remont/exterior-body-panels/#hood) )
  2. Disconnect the hood opener cable (A) from the hood latch (B) (see step 3 on «HOOD LATCH REPLACEMENT»(/acura/tl/iv-2008-2011/remont/exterior-body-panels/#hood) ) Take care not to kink the cable
  3. Detach the clips with a clip remover, and remove the grommet (C) from the body, then remove the hood opener cable from the vehicle Take care not to kink the cable
  4. Install the cable in the reverse order of removal, and note these items If the clips are damaged or stress-whitened, replace them with new ones Make sure the tape (A) is set to the front side of the clip (B) Make sure the foam pad (C) is set properly

Note. Put on gloves to protect your hands Take care not to scratch the body and the related parts

  1. Remove these items Front bulkhead cover (see «ENGINE COMPARTMENT COVER REPLACEMENT»(/acura/tl/iv-2008-2011/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#exterior-trim__engine-compartment-cover-replacement) ) Front bulkhead brace cover (see «FRONT BULKHEAD BRACE COVER REPLACEMENT»(/acura/tl/iv-2008-2011/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#exterior-trim__front-bulkhead-brace-cover-replacement) )
  2. Remove the bolts (A, B), then remove the front bulkhead center cover (C)
  3. Remove the bolts, then remove the hood latch (A) from the body, and disconnect the hood opener cable (B) from the hood latch
  4. Detach the harness clip (C), and disconnect the hood latch switch connector (D)
  5. Install the latch in the reverse order of removal, and note these items Apply multipurpose grease to each location on the hood latch indicated by the arrows Make sure the hood opener cable is connected properly, and the hood latch switch connector is plugged in properly Adjust the hood latch alignment (see step 4 on «HOOD ADJUSTMENT»(/acura/tl/iv-2008-2011/remont/exterior-body-panels/#hood) ) Make sure the hood opens properly and locks securely

  1. Remove the bolt, and release the hook (A), then remove the hood release handle (B) from the dashboard
  2. Disconnect the hood opener cable (C) from the hood release handle Take care not to kink the cable
  3. Install the hood release handle in the reverse order of removal, and note these items Make sure the hood opener cable is connected properly Make sure the hood opens properly
