  1. Do the battery terminal disconnection procedure (see «BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION AND RECONNECTION»(/acura/tl/iv-2008-2011/remont/body-electrical/#battery) )
  2. Remove these items Driver's dashboard trim (see «DRIVER'S DASHBOARD TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(/acura/tl/iv-2008-2011/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#dashboard) ) Driver's switch panel (see «DRIVER'S SWITCH PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(/acura/tl/iv-2008-2011/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#dashboard__drivers-switch-panel-removalinstallation) ) Driver's dashboard undercover (see «DRIVER'S DASHBOARD UNDERCOVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(/acura/tl/iv-2008-2011/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#dashboard) ) Driver's kick panel (see «TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - DOOR AREAS»(/acura/tl/iv-2008-2011/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim__trim-removalinstallation-door-areas) )
  3. Loosen the bolt (A), then remove the bolt (B) and the bracket (C) from dashboard/steering hanger beam
  4. USA models with keyless access system and Canada models without keyless access system Remove the screws and cover (A) from the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box
  5. Remove the mounting bolt, release the tab (B), and pull the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box away from the body
  6. Disconnect the connectors from the fuse side of the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box
  7. Disconnect the connectors from the back side of the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box, then remove the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box
  8. Carefully remove the relays using the relay puller (see «POWER RELAY TEST»(/acura/tl/iv-2008-2011/remont/body-electrical/#relays__power-relay-test) ) by prying under the base of the relay

Note. Do not use pliers. Pliers will damage the relays, which could cause the engine to stall or not start

Installation

Note. The imoes unit is built into the driver's MICU which is part of the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box Further more, vehicles with the keyless access do the imoes certification by communicating with the remote slot control unit Because of this construction, the imoes must be registered, or the vehicle will not start

  1. Install the relays and connect the connectors to the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box, then install the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box in the reverse order of removal
  2. Install the removed parts in the reverse order of removal
  3. Do the battery terminal reconnection procedure steps 1 to 4 (see «BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION AND RECONNECTION»(/acura/tl/iv-2008-2011/remont/body-electrical/#battery) )
  4. Register the immobilizer system with the HDS With keyless access system (see «KEYLESS ACCESS SYSTEM REGISTRATION»(/acura/tl/iv-2008-2011/remont/door-locks-anti-theft-systems/#keyless-access-system) ) Without keyless access system (see «IMMOBILIZER KEY REGISTRATION»(/acura/tl/iv-2008-2011/remont/door-locks-anti-theft-systems/#immobilizer-system__immobilizer-key-registration) )
  5. Do the remaining steps of battery terminal reconnection procedure (see «BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION AND RECONNECTION»(/acura/tl/iv-2008-2011/remont/body-electrical/#battery) )
  6. Confirm that all systems work properly

Scheme 29: Removal
  1. Do the battery terminal disconnection procedure (see «BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION AND RECONNECTION»(/acura/tl/iv-2008-2011/remont/body-electrical/#battery) )
  2. Remove the passenger's kick panel (see «TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - DOOR AREAS»(/acura/tl/iv-2008-2011/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim__trim-removalinstallation-door-areas) )
  3. Disconnect the connectors from the passenger's under-dash fuse/relay box (A)
  4. Loosen the mounting bolt from the lower side of passenger's under-dash fuse/relay box
  5. Remove the mounting bolt from the upper side of passenger's under-dash fuse/relay box, and remove the passenger's under-dash fuse/relay box
  1. Install the relays and connect the connectors to the passenger's under-dash fuse/relay box, then install the passenger's under-dash fuse/relay box in the reverse order of removal
  2. Install the removed parts in the reverse order of removal
  3. Do the battery terminal reconnection procedure (see «BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION AND RECONNECTION»(/acura/tl/iv-2008-2011/remont/body-electrical/#battery) )
  4. Confirm that all systems work properly
