Scheme 74
Lubricate the torque converter throat with ATF oil.
Note. Take care not to damage the oil pump during installation.
Make sure torque converter is as far into the transmission as possible. Check with a ruler. The distance between the cover and retaining tabs should be approximately approximately 14 mm .
Checking / replacing the torque converter
Ensure that the mating surfaces on the torque converter cover are clean.
Apply a light coating of grease to the torque converter guide studs and in the holes for the guide bushings on the torque converter cover.
Ensure that the torque converter is as far into the transmission as possible.
Check with a ruler that the distance between the cover and mounting lugs is approximately 14 mm .
