Position A: Low beam not on when the ignition is switched on

Information

Add key

This function is used when the customer has ordered new keys. The key code for the spare key must be programmed into the control module before it can be used to start the car. The control module memory can hold six key codes.

Delete key

This function is used when the customer wants one or more of the car's keys to be disabled and no longer capable of starting the car. This could be due to a lost or stolen key that can be traced to the car.

All programmed key codes are deleted from the control module memory. The key codes of the remaining keys are then reprogrammed into the control module memory. It is therefore important that the customer brings all of the car's keys along to the workshop. The control module memory can hold six key codes.

Ordering software/key

Note. To be able to add a key, a key and software must be ordered. Only software must be ordered to delete a software.

Programming a key in the control module

Note. The key can only be programmed or deleted once the key and/or software are accessible.

If a new key has been added, check its function.

Use VIDA vehicle communication to check that no diagnostic trouble codes have been stored during the work.

Combined Instrument Panel, Reading And Programming

4MARKET=Coding for different markets. The letters indicate the market and the digits indicate the speedometer scale in km or miles depending on market. The following market codes are available: GB 140, GB 160 EG 240, EG 260 OS 240, OS 260 US 140, SAUDI NOTE: When the market code is programmed for the first time the speedometer scale, km or miles, is selected. After this the scale cannot be changed.
5TRIP COMPUTER= YES/NO/NO SELECTIONIndicates if the combined instrument panel is programmed for the trip computer or only for displaying the outside temperature. NO SELECTION indicates that no programming has been carried out.
6MANIPUL.= hManipulation of speedometer. Indicates in hours how long the speed signal to the combined instrument panel has been disabled while the car was being driven.
7TOT. DIST= km/h/mphTotal mileage. Indicates total mileage in km/miles. NOTE: Total mileage can only be programmed once. In addition, programming must be carried out before the control module's registered mileage passes 100 km.
8*SERV AT= km/h/mphMileage at service. Indicates mileage at last service in km/miles. This parameter is not updated when the lamp check function is carried out.
9SRL COND= km/h/milesMileage between services Indicates predetermined service interval in km/miles. The following km service intervals exist: 5 000 km, 7 500 km 10 000 km, 15 000 km or 20 000 km. The following mile service intervals exist: 2 500 miles, 5 000 miles, 7 500 miles, 10 000 miles or 12 500 miles. This parameter is not updated when the lamp check function is carried out.
10*TIME SINCE= mTime since service Indicates time in months since last service.
11TIME COND= mTime between services Indicates predetermined service interval in months. The following options are available: 6, 12, 18 or 24 months.
12*E SINCE= hEngine hours since service Indicates engine operating time in hours since last service.
13E COND= hEngine hours between services. Indicates predetermined service interval in engine hours. The following options are available: 500, 750 or 1000 hours.
14SPEED WARN= Km/hSpeed warning (only Saudi Arabia). The following options are available: 120 km/h or OFF. Speed warning is activated when the Saudi Arabian (SAUDI) market code is selected. OFF indicates that the speed warning is not activated.
15*PRESET= YES/NOProgramming Indicates if the total mileage is programmed or not.
16TIRE=Tire size Indicates tire size for calibrating speedometer. The control module uses wheel circumference and vehicle speed to calculate the speed displayed. 17F. L. OFF= lit/galCalibration of fuel level for low fuel level warning lamp. The low fuel level warning lamp should light when there approximately 8 liters of fuel left in the fuel tank. If the customer reports that this lamp is lighting at some other fuel level, the level can be calibrated using this function. The following liter options can be programmed: -5, -4, -3, -2, -1, 0, 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 lit The following gallon options can be programmed: -2, -1.5, -1, -0.5, 0, 0.5, 1, 1.5 and 2 gal Positive values are used when the warning lamp lights for level too high. Negative values are used when the warning lamp lights for level too low. 0 resets previous calibration. Calibration affects the attenuated fuel level and trip computer function "Range to empty fuel tank".
NOTE
The P/N can only be programmed once.

  1. Ignition off.
  2. Expose combined instrument panel according to «Replacing the driver information control unit»(ref-408462-S13452583892011071200000) .
  3. Disconnect combined instrument panel.
  4. Check that the male and female terminals in the combined instrument panel and cable harness connectors are intact and secure and that the wiring to the female terminals is properly attached to the terminal.
  5. Check in particular the terminals relevant to the diagnostic trouble code (DTC)/symptom.

Connect adapter 9813194 to combined instrument panel connectors A and B and connect the breakout box 9813190 to the adapter.

Disconnecting the breakout box in reverse order.

General

The ignition must always be switched on to activate a function or component.

Child lock motor

LOCKING = Locks the rear passenger doors to the child safe position.

UNLOCKING = Unlocks the rear passenger doors from the child safe position.

Central locking motors

LOCKING = Locks all the doors.

UNLOCKING = Unlocks all the doors.

Deadlock motors

LOCKING = Locks the doors in the deadlocked position.

UNLOCKING = Unlocks the doors from the deadlocked position.

Central locking motor, driver's door

UNLOCKING = Unlocks the driver's door.

Central locking motor, trunk lid / tailgate

UNLOCKING = Unlocks the trunk lid / tailgate.

Indicator LED

ON = Lights the indicator LED on the dashboard.

OFF = Switches off the indicator LED on the dashboard.

Turn signal lamps

ON = Activates the turn signal lamps.

Alarm

ON = Activates the alarm (sets the alarm to stand-by mode).

OFF = Deactivates the alarm.

Tilt sensor

ON = Sets the tilt sensor to stand-by mode.

OFF = Sets the tilt sensor to resting mode.

LED, child lock switch

ON = Lights the indicator LED in the child lock switch.

OFF = Switches off the indicator LED in the child lock switch.

Door open warning lamp

ON = Lights the open door warning lamp in the combined instrument panel.

OFF = Switches off the warning lamp in the combined instrument panel.

Siren

ON = Activates the siren, a short sound for about 80 ms.

Interior lighting

ON = Lights the interior lighting.

OFF = Switches off the interior lighting.

Locking signal from the driver's door control switch

Displays the position of the key control switch.

HIGH = Control switch not in the locking position.

LOW = Control switch in the locking position.

The control switch grounds the signal when the key is turned to the locking position.

Unlocking signal from the driver's door control switch

Displays the position of the key control switch.

HIGH = Control switch not in the unlocking position.

LOW = Control switch in the unlocking position.

The control switch grounds the signal when the key is turned to the unlocking position.

Locking signal from the child lock switch

Displays the position of the child lock switch.

HIGH = Child lock switch not in the locking position.

LOW = Child lock switch in the locking position.

The child lock switch grounds the signal when it is pressed into the lock position.

Unlocking signal from the child lock switch

Displays the position of the child lock switch.

HIGH = Child lock switch not in the unlocking position.

Displays the position of the central locking switch.

Signal from the door switch, driver's door

Displays the position of the door switch in the driver's door.

HIGH = Door closed.

LOW = Door open

The door switch grounds the signal when the door opens.

Signal from the door switch, other doors

Displays the position of the door switch in the three passenger doors.

HIGH = All passenger doors closed.

LOW = A passenger door is open

The door switch for the each passenger door grounds the signal when one of the doors is opened.

Signal from the door switch, trunk lid or tailgate

Displays the position of door switch in the trunk lid or tailgate.

HIGH = Trunk lid or tailgate closed.

LOW = Trunk lid or tailgate open

The door switch grounds the signal when the trunk lid or tailgate opens.

Signal from the hood switch

Displays the position of the hood switch.

HIGH = Hood open.

LOW = Hood closed.

The hood switch grounds the signal when the hood is closed.

Signal from the tilt sensor

Displays the status of the tilt sensor

HIGH = Tilt sensor not affected.

LOW = Tilt sensor in the alarm position.

The signal will be low when the car angle of lean exceeds the limit for the alarm when the alarm is armed.

Signal from the switch on the ignition switch

Displays whether the key is in the ignition switch.

HIGH = Key in the ignition switch.

LOW = Key not in the ignition switch.

This applies to US/CDN models, for other models the signal applies to the key being in ACC position or not.

Signal from the child lock

Displays the position of the child locks.

HIGH = A door is not locked in the child safe position.

LOW = Both doors locked in the child safe position.

The signal is grounded when both the rear passenger doors are locked in the child safe position.

Signal from the switch for reduced alarm mode

Note. Applies from 2001 model year inclusive

Displays the position of the switch.

HIGH = Switch not affected.

LOW = Switch depressed.

This function is used when a defective control module has been replaced by a new one. During initiation, the software is first loaded into the control module. Key codes for all keys are then programmed.

Note. To initiate the immobilizer control module, software and keys must be ordered.

Initiate the control module

Note. Keys can only be programmed or deleted once the keys and/or software are accessible.

Use VIDA vehicle communication to check that no diagnostic trouble codes have been stored during the work.

Conditions

This function is used when a defective control module has been replaced.

The key codes for all keys should be programmed into the control module. The control module memory can store key codes for six keys.

Note. None of the old keys can be used. Only the new keys should be used

Note. When a new immobilizer control module has been initiated the control module has been programmed with the car's unique PIN code. The immobilizer control module cannot then be moved to another car.

The car's unique PIN must be known in order to program the key codes. The PIN of the faulty control module MUST be entered into the new control module. The PIN is obtained from Volvo's central car register. Use the same procedure used to order a mechanical key.

Version

Disconnect the Scan Tool (ST) from the VIDA station. Use it in stand alone mode connected to the car data link connector (DLC).
