Note. Wiring between both connectors is shielded. Repair short circuit in wiring together with shield.

- Perform basic diagnostic procedure. See «BASIC DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE»(ref-63535-S26517940312001020900000). Turn ignition off. Disconnect CMP sensor connector. Using a DVOM connected to ground, measure voltage at CMP sensor connector terminal No. 1. see scheme 6 If voltage is more than 10 volts, locate and repair short to ground in wiring between main relay and CMP sensor. See WIRING DIAGRAMS article. If voltage is not more than 10 volts, go to next step.
- Using a DVOM connected to ground, measure voltage at CMP sensor connector terminal No. 1. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is not more than 10 volts, locate and repair open circuit or short to ground in wiring between main relay and CMP sensor. See WIRING DIAGRAMS article.
- Turn ignition off and disconnect ECM connector B135 (28-pin connector). Measure resistance between ECM connector B135 (28-pin connector) terminal No. 10 and CMP sensor connector terminal No. 2 and between ECM connector B135 (28-pin connector) terminal No. 1 and CMP sensor connector terminal No. 3. If resistance is less than one ohm at both test points, go to next step. If resistance is not less than one ohm at each test point, locate and repair open circuit in wiring between ECM and CMP sensor.
- Measure resistance between CMP sensor connector terminal No. 2 and ground and between CMP sensor connector terminal No. 3 and ground. If resistance is more than one megohm at both test points, go to next step. If resistance is not more than one megohm at both test points, locate and repair short to ground in wiring between ECM and CMP sensor.
- Ensure CMP sensor bolt is tightened securely. Tighten bolt as required. If bolt is tight, go to next step.
- Using a lab scope, observe CMP sensor wave form. (Scheme 67) If wave form is normal, go to next step. If wave form is not normal, replace CMP sensor.
- Check ECM connector terminal contact. If ECM connector terminal contact is okay, replace ECM. If ECM connector terminal contact is present, repair connector as required. Clear memory and perform verification procedure. See «CLEARING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES»(ref-63535-S26931138132001020900000) and «VERIFICATION PROCEDURE»(ref-63535-S38101445392001020900000).
