- Perform basic diagnostic procedure. See «BASIC DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE»(ref-63535-S26517940312001020900000) . Start engine. Using scan tool, observe intake air temperature (IAT) signal. If temperature is more than 248°F (120°C), go to next step. If temperature is not more than 248°F (120°C), repair poor contact in connectors between ECM and IAT sensor. See WIRING DIAGRAMS article.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect IAT sensor connector. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, observe IAT signal. If temperature is less than -40°F (-40°C), replace IAT sensor. If temperature is not less than -40°F (-40°C), repair short to ground in wiring between ECM and IAT sensor. Clear memory and perform verification procedure. See «CLEARING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES»(ref-63535-S26931138132001020900000) and «VERIFICATION PROCEDURE»(ref-63535-S38101445392001020900000) .

- Perform basic diagnostic procedure. See «BASIC DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE»(ref-63535-S26517940312001020900000). Start engine. Using scan tool, observe intake air temperature (IAT) sensor signal. If temperature reads less than -40°F (-40°C), go to next step. If temperature does not read less than -40°F (-40°C), repair poor terminal contact in connectors between ECM and IAT sensor. See WIRING DIAGRAMS article.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect IAT sensor connector. Using DVOM connected to ground, check voltage at IAT sensor connector terminal No. 1. (Scheme 62) If voltage is more than 10 volts, locate and repair short to voltage in wiring between ECM and IAT sensor. If voltage is not more than 10 volts, go to next step.
- Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between IAT sensor connector terminal No. 1 and ground. If voltage is more than 10 volts, locate and repair short to voltage in wiring between ECM and IAT sensor. If voltage is not more than 10 volts, go to next step.
- Measure voltage between IAT sensor connector terminal No. 1 and ground. If voltage is more than 3 volts, go to next step. If voltage is not more than 3 volts, locate and repair open circuit in wiring and check for poor terminal contact in connectors between ECM and IAT sensor.
- Turn ignition off. Measure resistance between ground and IAT sensor connector terminal No. 2. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace IAT sensor. If resistance is not less than 5 ohms, locate and repair open circuit in wiring and check for poor terminal contact in connectors between ECM and IAT sensor. Clear memory and perform verification procedure. See «CLEARING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES»(ref-63535-S26931138132001020900000) and «VERIFICATION PROCEDURE»(ref-63535-S38101445392001020900000).
