Scheme 3: Component description for the baffle plate - GF01.40-P-2100MCC

Task

A baffle plate is located between the oil pan and crankcase in order to optimize the power output of the engine. The baffle plate prevents direct immersion of the crankshaft in engine oil remaining in the oil pan. This reduces the resistance at the crankshaft and also prevents foaming of the engine oil.

Furthermore, returning engine oil from the engine flows via the baffle plate into the oil pan. This causes calming of the engine oil.

The whipped up engine oil for various driving conditions is held back by the baffle plate and therefore does not come into direct contact with the crankshaft. This also prevents air being sucked in by the die oil pump when the vehicle is tilted.
