INSTALLATION
- INSTALL TRANSMISSION WIRE Coat a new O-ring with ATF and install it into the transmission wire. Pass the transmission wire through the transaxle case. Install the transmission wire with the bolt. Torque: 5.4 N*m (55 kgf*cm, 48 in.*lbf) Coat the O-ring on the ATF temperature sensor with ATF. Install the ATF temperature sensor with the lock plate and bolt. Torque: 6.6 N*m (67 kgf*cm, 58 in.*lbf) Connect the 5 shift solenoid valve connectors.
- INSTALL AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE OIL PAN SUB-ASSEMBLY Install the 2 oil cleaner magnets onto the automatic transaxle oil pan sub-assembly, as shown in the illustration. Install the automatic transaxle oil pan sub-assembly and a new oil pan gasket with the 18 bolts. Torque: 7.8 N*m (80 kgf*cm, 69 in.*lbf)

- DRAIN AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE FLUID See step 9
- REMOVE AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE OIL PAN SUB-ASSEMBLY See step 3
- REMOVE VALVE BODY OIL STRAINER ASSEMBLY Remove the 3 bolts and remove the valve body oil strainer assembly. NOTE: Perform the operation carefully as some fluid will come out from the oil strainer. Remove the O-ring from the valve body oil strainer assembly.
- DISCONNECT TRANSMISSION WIRE Disconnect the 5 shift solenoid valve connectors. Remove the bolt and lock plate and separate the ATF temperature sensor.
- REMOVE TRANSMISSION VALVE BODY ASSEMBLY Support the valve body assembly and remove the 17 bolts and the transmission valve body assembly. NOTE: Be careful not to drop the check ball body, spring and accumulator piston.

- REMOVE MANUAL VALVE Remove the manual valve from the transmission valve body assembly.
- REMOVE SHIFT SOLENOID VALVE SL1 Remove the bolt and No. 1 solenoid lock plate from the transmission valve body assembly. Pull out the shift solenoid valve SL1 from the transmission valve body assembly.
- REMOVE SHIFT SOLENOID VALVE SL2 Remove the bolt and No. 2 solenoid lock plate from the transmission valve body assembly. Pull out the shift solenoid valve SL2 from the transmission valve body assembly.
- REMOVE SHIFT SOLENOID VALVE SLT Remove the bolt and No. 3 solenoid lock plate from the transmission valve body assembly. Pull out the shift solenoid valve SLT from the transmission valve body assembly.
- REMOVE SHIFT SOLENOID VALVE DSL Remove the bolt and pull out shift solenoid valve DSL from the transmission valve body assembly.
- REMOVE SHIFT SOLENOID VALVE S4 Remove the bolt and pull out shift solenoid valve S4 from the transmission valve body assembly.

- INSPECT SHIFT SOLENOID VALVE SL1 Measure the resistance. Standard resistance Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition 1 - 2 20°C (68°F) 5.0 to 5.6 ohms Connect the positive (+) battery lead with a 21 W bulb to terminal 2 and the negative (-) battery lead to terminal 1 of the solenoid valve connector, and check the operation of the valve. NOTE: While using the battery during the inspection, do not bring the positive and negative tester probes too close to each other as a short circuit may occur. OK The solenoid makes an operating sound. If the resistance is not as specified, replace the shift solenoid valve SL1.
- INSPECT SHIFT SOLENOID VALVE SL2 Measure the resistance. Standard resistance Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition 1 - 2 20°C (68°F) 5.0 to 5.6 ohms Connect the positive (+) battery lead with a 21 W bulb to terminal 2 and the negative (-) battery lead to terminal 1 of the solenoid valve connector, and check the operation of the valve. NOTE: While using the battery during the inspection, do not bring the positive and negative tester probes too close to each other as a short circuit may occur. OK The solenoid makes an operating sound. If the resistance is not as specified, replace the shift solenoid valve SL2.
- INSPECT SHIFT SOLENOID VALVE SLT Measure the resistance. Standard resistance Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition 1 - 2 20°C (68°F) 5.0 to 5.6 ohms Connect the positive (+) battery lead with a 21 W bulb to terminal 2 and the negative (-) battery lead to terminal 1 of the solenoid valve connector, and check the operation of the valve. NOTE: While using the battery during the inspection, do not bring the positive and negative tester probes too close to each other as a short circuit may occur. OK The solenoid makes an operating sound. If the resistance is not as specified, replace the shift solenoid valve SLT.
- INSPECT SHIFT SOLENOID VALVE DSL Measure the resistance. Standard resistance Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition Solenoid Connector (DSL) - Solenoid Body (DSL) 20°C (68°F) 11 to 13 ohms Connect the positive (+) battery lead to the terminal of the solenoid connector, and the negative (-) battery lead to the solenoid body, and check the operation of the valve. NOTE: While using the battery during the inspection, do not bring the positive and negative tester probes too close to each other as a short circuit may occur. OK The solenoid makes an operating sound. If the resistance is not as specified, replace the shift solenoid valve DSL.
- INSPECT SHIFT SOLENOID VALVE S4 Measure the resistance. Standard resistance Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition Solenoid Connector (S4) - Solenoid Body (S4) 20°C (68°F) 11 to 15 ohms Connect the positive (+) battery lead to the terminal of the solenoid connector, and the negative (-) battery lead to the solenoid body, and check the operation of the valve. NOTE: While using the battery during the inspection, do not bring the positive and negative tester probes too close to each other as a short circuit may occur. OK The solenoid makes an operating sound. If the resistance is not as specified, replace the shift solenoid valve S4.
