CONFIRMATION DRIVING PATTERN

HINT

  1. It is necessary that the response of the heated oxygen sensor is normal in order to confirm DTC P0420. Therefore, perform the driving pattern for the heated oxygen sensor monitor before performing the drive pattern for the catalyst efficiency monitor.
  2. Performing this confirmation driving pattern will activate the catalyst efficiency monitor. This is very useful for verifying the completion of a repair.

  1. CHECK FOR ANY OTHER DTCS OUTPUT (IN ADDITION TO DTC P0420) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3. Turn the ignition switch to ON. Turn the Techstream on. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Trouble Codes. Read the DTCs. RESULT Result Proceed to P0420 is output A P0420 and other DTCs are output B HINT: If any DTCs other than P0420 are output, troubleshoot those DTCs first. B --> See step 13 A: Go to next step
  2. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (CONTROL THE INJECTION VOLUME FOR A/F SENSOR) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3. Start the engine. Turn the Techstream on. Warm up the engine and run the engine at an engine speed of 2500 rpm for approximately 90 seconds. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Active Test / Control the Injection Volume for A/F Sensor. Perform the Control the Injection Volume operation with the engine idling.
