DTC P1549: CHARGE AIR MALFUNCTION Saab 9-3 I

  1. Inspect charge air control (CAC) valve vacuum hoses for leaks or incorrect routing. see scheme 16 If misrouted or leaking hoses are found, repair or replace as necessary and go to step 4. If no problems were found, go to next step.
  2. Connect TECH 2 scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). Disconnect hoses "C" and "W" from CAC valve and connect them together. Using scan tool, select READ VALUE: CHARGE AIR ABSOLUTE PRESSURE (TRIONIC). Test drive vehicle and observe scan tool reading. With throttle completely depressed, value should not exceed 150 kPa, regardless of engine speed. If scan tool reading is not as specified, go to next step. If scan tool display is as specified, replace CAC valve and go to step 4.
  3. Inspect turbocharger for sticking wastegate, leaking or sticking control diaphragm or incorrect basic wastegate setting. See «TURBOCHARGER»(ref-3001-S17703393942000041700000) under AIR INDUCTION SYSTEMS in appropriate SYSTEM & COMPONENT TESTING article. Repair or replace as necessary. See REMOVAL, OVERHAUL & INSTALLATION article. Go to next step.
  4. Turn ignition on and check scan tool for diagnostic status of DTC P1549. Test drive vehicle from idle up to over 5000 RPM while observing scan tool display. If OK is displayed, clear DTCs in all systems. If NOT READY is displayed, return to INITIATING DIAGNOSTICS on scan tool and retest. If DTC P1549 is displayed, substitute known good ECM and retest system.
