Diagnostic Test

1. CHECK THE ANTENNA CONNECTION Turn the ignition off. Disconnect the Satellite Video Antenna Cable connector at the Satellite Video Module. Inspect the Satellite Video Antenna connection. Was the Antenna connection clean and secure? Yes Go to 2 . No Repair the Antenna connection as needed. Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to «BODY VERIFICATION TEST»(ref-457926-S40044966262012030200000) for 1500, 2500 and 3500 or «BODY VERIFICATION TEST»(ref-457927-S20352278932012030200000) for 3500 Cab Chassis, 4500 and 5500. .
2. TEST THE SATELLITE VIDEO MODULE NOTE: Move vehicle outside approximately 9.14 m (30 ft.) from any structure. Turn the ignition on. With the scan tool, record, then erase the Satellite Video Module DTCs. Turn the ignition off. Connect the Radio Diagnostic Tool (special tool #9977-6-SAT, Antenna) to the Satellite Video Antenna connection at the Satellite Video Module. Turn the ignition and the Radio on. Put the Radio in Satellite Video Mode. With the scan tool, read the active Satellite Video Module DTCs. Does the scan tool display: B1539 Satellite Video Antenna Performance (Not Connected) as Active? Yes Replace the Satellite Video Module in accordance with the Service Information. Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to «BODY VERIFICATION TEST»(ref-457926-S40044966262012030200000) for 1500, 2500 and 3500 or «BODY VERIFICATION TEST»(ref-457927-S20352278932012030200000) for 3500 Cab Chassis, 4500 and 5500. . No Go to 3 .
3. TEST THE SATELLITE VIDEO ANTENNA Turn the ignition off. Disconnect the Satellite Video Antenna cable connector at the Satellite Video Antenna. Connect the appropriate Radio Diagnostic Tool (special tool #9977-6-1, Adapter) or (special tool #9977-6-3, Adapter) to the Satellite Video Antenna cable at the Satellite Video Module. Connect the appropriate Radio Diagnostic Tool (special tool #9977-6-4, Jumper) or (special tool #9977-6-2, Jumper) to the Satellite Video Antenna cable at the Satellite Video Antenna. Measure the Resistance across the terminals on the tool. Is the resistance above 52.5 Ohms? Yes Use the Radio Diagnostic Tool (special tool #9977-6, Kit, Radio Antenna Diagnostic) to locate the open circuit, repair or replace the Satellite Video Antenna cable as necessary. Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to «BODY VERIFICATION TEST»(ref-457926-S40044966262012030200000) for 1500, 2500 and 3500 or «BODY VERIFICATION TEST»(ref-457927-S20352278932012030200000) for 3500 Cab Chassis, 4500 and 5500. No Replace the Satellite Video Antenna in accordance with the Service Information. Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to «BODY VERIFICATION TEST»(ref-457926-S40044966262012030200000) for 1500, 2500 and 3500 or «BODY VERIFICATION TEST»(ref-457927-S20352278932012030200000) for 3500 Cab Chassis, 4500 and 5500.

1. CHECK FOR ANY POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULES DTCS NOTE: Make sure the Battery is in good condition. Using the Midtronics Battery Tester, test the Battery before continuing. NOTE: Inspect the vehicle for after market accessories that may exceed the Generator System output. NOTE: Make sure the generator drive belt is in good operating condition. NOTE: Inspect the fuses in the IPM. If an open fuse is found, use the wire diagram/schematic as a guide, inspect the wiring and connectors for damage. Turn the ignition on. With the scan tool, read active PCM DTCs. Does the scan tool display any active battery or charging DTCs? Yes Refer to appropriate Powertrain Control Module (PCM) DTC article and perform the appropriate battery or charging system diagnostic procedure. No Check the above conditions that can cause a low voltage condition. Repair as necessary. Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to «BODY VERIFICATION TEST»(ref-457926-S40044966262012030200000) for 1500, 2500 and 3500 or «BODY VERIFICATION TEST»(ref-457927-S20352278932012030200000) for 3500 Cab Chassis, 4500 and 5500.

1. CHECK FOR ANY POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULES DTCS NOTE: Make sure the Battery is in good condition. Using the Midtronics Battery Tester, test the Battery before continuing. 1. REPLACE THE SATELLITE VIDEO RECEIVER When this DTC is active, replace the Satellite Video Receiver. Repair Replace the Satellite Video Receiver in accordance with the Service Information. Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to «BODY VERIFICATION TEST»(ref-457926-S40044966262012030200000) for 1500, 2500 and 3500 or «BODY VERIFICATION TEST»(ref-457927-S20352278932012030200000) for 3500 Cab Chassis, 4500 and 5500.

1. VERIFY DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) IS ACTIVE NOTE: Make sure the IOD fuse is installed and battery voltage is between 10 and 16 volts before proceeding. Using the scan tool, read active DTCs. Is this DTC active? Yes Refer to «TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE (TIPM) - ELECTRICAL DIAGNOSTICS - 1500, 2500 & 3500»(ref-457926) article or «TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE (TIPM) - ELECTRICAL DIAGNOSTICS - 3500 CAB & CHASSIS, 4500 & 5500»(ref-457927) article and perform the U0010-CAN Interior BUS diagnostic procedure. No Refer to «COMMUNICATION - NON-DTC BASED DIAGNOSTICS - 1500, 2500 & 3500»(ref-457934) article or «COMMUNICATION - NON-DTC BASED DIAGNOSTICS - 3500 CAB & CHASSIS, 4500 & 5500»(ref-457935) article and perform the STORED LOST COMMUNICATION DTCs diagnostic procedure.

1. VERIFY DTC IS ACTIVE NOTE: Make sure the IOD fuse is installed and the battery is fully charged before proceeding. Turn the ignition on. With the scan tool, read active DTCs. Is this DTC active?
