REMOVAL

CAUTIONWhen removing ABM from HCU, be sure to completely separate the two components (approximately 38 mm (1.5 in.) before removing ABM. Otherwise, damage to the pressure sensor or Pump Motor connection may result requiring HCU replacement. Do not to touch the sensor terminals on the HCU side or the contact pads on the ABM side as this may result in contamination and issues in the future.
  1. Remove the negative battery cable from the battery.
  2. Pull up on the ABM harness connector release and remove connector.
  3. Remove the ABM mounting bolts.
  4. Remove the pump connector from the ABM.
  5. Remove the ABM from the HCU.

INSTALLATION

CAUTIONWhen removing ABM from HCU, be sure to completely separate the two components (approximately 38 mm (1.5 in.) before removing ABM. Otherwise, damage to the pressure sensor or Pump Motor connection may result requiring HCU replacement. Do not to touch the sensor terminals on the HCU side or the contact pads on the ABM side as this may result in contamination and issues in the future.

Note. If the ABM is being replaced with a new ABM is must be reprogrammed with the use of a scan tool.

  1. Install ABM to the HCU.
  2. Install the pump connector to the ABM.
  3. Install mounting bolts. Tighten to 2 N.m (16 in. lbs.).
  4. Install the wiring harness connector to the ABM and push down on the release to secure the connector.
  5. Install negative battery cable to the battery.
  6. Connect the scan tool and initialize the ABM by performing the ABS Verification Test. Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-457878-S42619037802012030200000) for 1500, 2500 and 3500 or «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-457877-S13659032102012030200000) for 3500 Cab & Chassis, 4500 and 5500. .

Scheme 24: DESCRIPTION

The Remote Compass Module (RCM) (2) is a separate stand alone module located within the overhead console (1). The RCM can be accessed by removing the overhead console from the vehicle. Some vehicles are equipped with a Universal Garage Door Opener (UGDO) also known as a HomeLink® transceiver. Both the RCM and the HomeLink® transceiver for this vehicle are one in the same and sometimes referred to as the Electronic Overhead Module (EOM).

The HomeLink® transceiver or UGDO is equipped with three push buttons switches that are visible from the front face of the overhead console. The buttons are marked with one, two or three dash marks, respectively, for identification of each channel. For more information on the HomeLink® transceiver, refer to Description .

The RCM or the HomeLink® transceiver cannot be repaired. If either the compass position sensor or the HomeLink® transceiver are inoperative and require replacement, the EOM must be replaced as a complete assembly. For more information on servicing the EOM, refer to MESSAGE CENTER - SERVICE INFORMATION for the appropriate procedure.

  1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the overhead console assembly (1), Refer to «CONSOLE, Overhead, Front , Removal»(ref-457777-S16882044832012030200000) .
  3. Remove the four fasteners (5) that secure the Remote Compass Module (RCM) (2) to the overhead console.
  4. Remove the module from the console.
  1. Position the Remote Compass Module (RCM) (2) in the console.
  2. Install the four fasteners (5) that secure the RCM to the overhead console (1).
  3. Install the overhead console assembly, Refer to «CONSOLE, Overhead, Front , Installation»(ref-457777-S18800645112012030200000) .
  4. Connect the negative battery cable.
  5. Perform the Compass Variance Adjustment. Refer to «MODULE, Compass , Standard Procedure»(ref-457809-S30532500712012030200000) .
  6. Perform the Manual Compass Calibration. Refer to «MODULE, Compass , Standard Procedure»(ref-457809-S30532500712012030200000) .
  7. Verify proper compass operation.

Scheme 25: DESCRIPTION

This vehicle is equipped with two electronic front door control modules (1) (also known as a Driver Door Module/DDM, a Passenger Door Module/PDM or Front Door Multiplex/MUX Modules), one each on both the driver and passenger front doors. Each door control module is concealed behind the front door trim panel where it is secured through two integral mounting tabs (2) to the door hardware module carrier by two screws. The front door control modules are located in the upper front corner of the front door hardware carriers, just below the mirror flag area of the front door.

Each door control module contains a microprocessor and is connected to the various switches on that door. In the case of the driver side module, it communicates with some switches over a Local Interface Network (LIN) data bus. Both the driver and passenger side module also receive various hard wired switch inputs and provide numerous hard wired outputs to various devices located on their respective doors. In addition, both front door control modules communicate with each other and with other electronic modules in the vehicle over the Controller Area Network (CAN) Interior High Speed (IHS) data bus system.

Concealed and protected within the molded plastic door control module housing is the printed circuit board and the other electronic circuitry of the module. The front door control modules are connected to the vehicle electrical system through up to eight connector receptacles that are integral to the module housing.

A door control module cannot be adjusted or repaired and, if damaged or ineffective, it must be replaced. The door control module software is flash programmable.

  1. Position the door control module (1) to the front door hardware module carrier.
  2. Install and tighten the two screws that secure the door control module to the front door hardware module carrier. Tighten the screws securely.
  3. Reconnect each of the electrical connectors to the connector receptacles of the door control module.
  4. Reinstall the trim panel to the inside of the front door. Refer to «PANEL, Door Trim , Installation»(ref-457777-S13542642742012030200000) .
  5. Reconnect the battery negative cable.
  6. The Clear/Relearn procedure should be performed following service of a door control module so that the module can learn the correct hard stops of the power window regulator. Refer to «Standard Procedure»(ref-457813-S12561493522012030200000) .
  1. Place the Drive Train Control Module (3) in its location on the mounting plate (4) and firmly snap into place.
  2. Connect the electrical connectors (2).
  3. Install cover back onto the DTCM by snapping into place.
  4. Install carpeting back into its proper location.
  5. Connect the battery negative cable.

Scheme 26: DESCRIPTION

The Heated Seat Module (HSM), also referred to as the Comfort Seat Wheel Module (CSWM) is a time based controller for all the functions of the Vented Seats, Heated Seats and the Heated Steering wheel systems when equipped. The HSM is black in color, rectangular in shape and has a total of five electrical connectors based on the number of components being controlled. The HSM is located in the passenger compartment under the left front seat, and is attached to the seat bottom frame assembly.

  1. Install the heated seat module (4) to the seat frame (2) by aligning the two tabs (3) at the rear of the module with the slots in the seat frame, then push the module upward until the lock tab (1) locks the module to the seat frame.
  2. Connect the five heated seat module electrical connectors (1).
  3. Connect the battery negative cable.

Scheme 27: DESCRIPTION

The Integrated Trailer Brake Module (ITBM) (1) is located in the instrument panel to the left of the steering column above the park brake release handle. Near the center of the ITBM is a numerical LED and trailer icon (2) which illuminate for three seconds when the ignition switch is placed in the RUN position. There is also an adjustment switch (4) and a trailer manual sliding brake lever/switch (3) on the face of the ITBM.

  1. Position the Integrated Trailer Brake Module (ITBM) (1) and snap the bottom retainer clips into place. NOTE: One screw on the right front of the ITBM not shown in illustration.
  2. Install the three ITBM retainer screws (1).
  3. Connect the ITBM electrical connectors (1).
  4. Position the left instrument panel side cover (1) and press the retainers into place in the IP.
  5. Position the steering column opening cover (1) and press the upper retainers into place in the IP.
  6. Install the steering column opening cover retaining screws (2).
  7. Connect the battery negative cable.

Note. The scan tool standardization process must be performed on the Memory Module (1) any time a new module is installed or the existing module is reflashed.

The Memory Seat Module (MSM), also know as Memory Module (MM) (1) is located underneath the driver seat. It is used in conjunction with the other modules in the memory system to recall the driver seat to one of two preset seat positions (horizontal, vertical, and recliner). The switch for the memory seat programming and selection mounts on the side of the driver seat. The memory system is able to store and recall all driver side power seat positions except for lumber, outside mirror positions and power adjustable pedal position. The system can be set for two different drivers. On vehicles with a factory installed radio connected to the Controller Area Network (CAN) data bus network, the memory system is also able to store and recall up to twelve radio station presets (six AM and six FM), also for two drivers. The memory system will also store and recall the last station listened to for each driver, even if it is not one of the twelve preset stations.

The memory system will automatically recall all of these settings when a button of the memory switch is depressed, or when the doors are unlocked using the FOBIK (if the "FOBIK Linked to Memory" feature is enabled). If the vehicle has more than two drivers the FOBIK transmitter recall of memory features can be disabled. This is a customer programmable feature of the Electronic Vehicle Information Center (EVIC).

  1. Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable.
  2. Disconnect the four electrical connectors from the front of the module (1) and the one in the back.
  3. Push up on the module (1) to release side tabs.
  4. Pull module forward to remove from bracket.
CAUTIONThe Memory Seat Module (MSM) mounting tabs can be damaged during module installation. Use care to properly align tabs to prevent binding that could result in tab breakage.
  1. Place the module (1) into position making sure the mounting tabs are properly aligned with the front bracket.
  2. Push down on the front of the module (1) snapping the tabs into place in the side brackets.
  3. Connect the electrical connectors to the MSM. Four in the front and one in the back.
  4. Connect the battery negative cable.
  5. Using an appropriate scan tool, go to the MSM miscellaneous functions and perform the standardization routine.
  6. Verify system and vehicle operation.

PICK UP MODELS

  1. Disconnect both negative battery cables.
  2. Raise and support vehicle.
  3. Disconnect the Oxygen (O2) sensor module (1) harness connector (2).
  4. Remove bolts (3) and the O2 sensor module (1) from frame rail.

PICK UP MODELS

  1. Install the Oxygen (O2) sensor module (1) to frame rail (4). Tighten bolts (3) to 6 N.m (53 in. lbs.).
  2. Connect the O2 sensor module (1) harness connector (2).
  3. Lower vehicle.
  4. Connect both negative battery cables.

Scheme 30: DESCRIPTION

The Park Assist Module (1) is secured to a mounting bracket (2) that is bonded to the upper side of the vehicles headliner (3) above the right sun visor and secured by two fasteners (4). Concealed within the molded plastic park assist module housing is a microprocessor and the other electronic circuitry of the module. The module housing is sealed to enclose and protect the internal electronic circuitry. The module software is flash programmable.

Two connector receptacles (5) containing terminal pins are integral to the forward-facing side of the housing. The module is connected to the vehicle electrical system through two dedicated take outs and connectors of the body wire harness.

The park assist module cannot be adjusted or repaired and, if damaged or inoperative, it must be replaced. For more information on the park assist module and operation, refer to MODULE, Park Assist , Operation .

  1. Lower the headliner to access the module. Refer to «HEADLINER , Removal»(ref-457777-S39657840342012030200000) .
  2. Disconnect the two body wire harness connectors (5) from the park assist module connector receptacles.
  3. Remove the two fasteners (4) that secure the module to the mounting bracket.
  4. Remove the module from behind the headliner.
  1. Position the park assist module (1) at the mounting bracket (2) bonded to the back of the headliner (3).
  2. Secure the module to the bracket with two fasteners (4).
  3. Reconnect the two body wire harness connectors (5) to the module connector receptacles.
  4. Reinstall the vehicle headliner. Refer to «HEADLINER , Installation»(ref-457777-S18376966342012030200000) .
  5. Reconnect the battery negative cable.

Scheme 31: POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCM)

The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) is located in the right-rear section of the engine compartment under the cowl.

CAUTIONCertain ABS systems rely on having the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) broadcast the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) over the bus network. To prevent problems of DTCs and other items related to the VIN broadcast, it is recommend that you disconnect the ABS CAB (controller) temporarily when replacing the PCM. Once the PCM is replaced, write the VIN to the PCM using a scan tool. This is done from the engine main menu. Arrow over to the second page to "1. Miscellaneous". Select "VIN" from the choices. Make sure it has the correct VIN entered before continuing. When the VIN is complete, turn off the ignition key and reconnect the ABS module connector. This will prevent the setting of DTCs and other items associated with the lack of a VIN detected when you turn the key ON after replacing the PCM.
CAUTIONUse the scan tool to reprogram the new PCM with the vehicles original identification number (VIN) and the vehicles original mileage. If this step is not done, a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) may be set.

The PCM (2) is located in the engine compartment attached to the passenger side dash panel.

To avoid possible voltage spike damage to the PCM, ignition key must be off, and negative battery cable must be disconnected before unplugging PCM connectors.

  1. Disconnect and isolator the negative battery cable.
  2. Carefully unplug the four 38 - way connectors from the PCM (1).
  3. Remove the four PCM mounting bolts and remove the PCM (2) from vehicle.
CAUTIONCertain ABS systems rely on having the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) broadcast the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) over the bus network.   1. Install the PCM (2) and 4 mounting bolts to vehicle.
  2. Check pin connectors in the PCM and the three 32 - way connectors (four 38 - way connectors if equipped with NGC) for corrosion or damage. Also, the pin heights in connectors should all be same. Repair as necessary before installing connectors.
  3. Install the three 32 - way connectors (four 38 - way connectors if equipped with NGC).
  4. The 5.7L V-8 engine is equipped with a fully electronic accelerator pedal position sensor. If equipped with a 5.7L, also perform the following 3 steps: Connect the negative battery cable. Turn the ignition switch ON, but do not crank the engine. Leave the ignition switch ON for a minimum of 10 seconds. This will allow the PCM to learn the electrical parameters. The scan tool may also be used to learn electrical parameters. Go to the Miscellaneous menu, and then select ETC Learn.
  5. If the previous step is not performed, a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) will be set.
  6. If necessary, use a scan tool to erase any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC's) from PCM. Also use the scan tool to reprogram new PCM with vehicles original Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) and original vehicle mileage.

Note. To avoid possible voltage spike damage to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM), ignition key must be off, and both negative battery cables must be disconnected before unplugging PCM harness connectors.

  1. Record any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC's) found in the (PCM). NOTE: For automatic transmission vehicles, disconnecting the battery before the 10 minute power down will result in the Fault Code P2509. This fault code will need to be cleared before returning to the customer. Also, same for manual transmissions but the time limit is 75 seconds.
  2. Disconnect both negative battery cables. CAUTION: If the connector latch is packed with dirt or debris, clean connector latch first with electrical contact cleaner otherwise damage to the connector housing may result when trying to open a dirty connector.
  3. Disconnect the PCM harness connectors (3) and harness retainer (1) from PCM (4).
  4. Remove bolts (1 and 2), and the PCM (3) from engine.

Note. Do not apply paint to Powertrain Control Module (PCM) or a poor ground will result.

  1. Install PCM (3) to the engine block. Tighten bolts (1 and 2). to 24 N.m (18 ft. lbs.).
  2. Check pins in electrical connectors for corrosion, damage or dirt intrusion. Also, check all the PCM pins for being bent. Repair as necessary. Damaged, dirty, bent or corroded pins could result in poor conductivity, causing intermittent electrical issues or DTC's.
  3. Clean pins in electrical connectors with an electrical contact cleaner.
  4. Install PCM harness connectors (3) and harness retainer (1) to PCM (4).
  5. Connect both negative battery cables.
  6. Program the PCM. Refer to «Standard Procedure»(ref-457810-S41458068302012030200000) .
  7. After programming the PCM, allow the module to fully power down. This process will require 10 minutes for automatic transmission vehicles, or 75 seconds for manual transmission vehicles. NOTE: Vehicles having 6.7L diesel engine with automatic transmissions will require a transmission quick learn after programming the PCM.
  8. Use a diagnostic scan tool to erase any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC's) from PCM.

Scheme 34: FUEL INJECTOR ID CORRECTION CODES

Each fuel injector has a six-digit alphanumeric correction code. The correction code is printed on the intake side of the fuel injector (1) and is used to identify injector calibration. When replacing any fuel injectors, this code must be entered into the vehicles Powertrain Control Module (PCM) using a diagnostic scan tool. In addition, if a new PCM is installed, use a diagnostic scan tool to program all six of the injector codes from the original fuel injectors into the new PCM.

Scheme 35: DESCRIPTION

This vehicle is equipped with a Steering Control Module (SCM), which is an electronic circuit board with a microprocessor that is internal to the multi-function switch (1) housing. The SCM is a Local Interface Network (LIN) slave and communicates over a dedicated LIN bus circuit with the ElectroMechanical Instrument Cluster (EMIC) (also known as the Cab Compartment Node/CCN), which is the LIN master and also provides a gateway to the Controller Area Network (CAN) data bus.

The multi-function switch is located on the left side of the steering column, just below the steering wheel. The multi-function switch provides the primary controls for the front wiper and washer systems, the turn signals and for headlamp beam selection. The only visible component of the switch is the control stalk, which includes a control knob that extends through the shrouds on the left side of the steering column. The remainder of the switch including its mounting provisions, its electrical connection and a turn signal cancel actuator are concealed beneath the shrouds.

The switch housing and controls are constructed of molded black plastic. A single integral latch feature and slide tabs on the switch housing engage channels and a striker that are integral to the left side of the mounting bracket that is integral to the clockspring (3) to secure the switch to the steering column. Each of the switches within the multi-function switch is internally connected to the SCM. A single connector receptacle integral to the back of the switch housing connects the SCM to the vehicle electrical system through a dedicated takeout and connector of the instrument panel wire harness.

The SCM cannot be adjusted or repaired, and is not flash update capable. If ineffective or damaged, the entire multi-function switch must be replaced. Refer to SWITCH, Multifunction , Removal . The clockspring (with the multi-function switch mounting bracket) and the multi-function switch (with the SCM) are each available for separate service replacement.

  1. Connect the WIN electrical connector.
  2. If equipped, connect the antenna connector to the WIN.
  3. Install the WIN (2) into the to instrument panel.
  4. Install the steering column cover opening. Refer to «COVER, Steering Column Opening , Installation»(ref-457777-S28929873452012030200000) .
  5. Connect the negative battery cable.
  6. Program the WIN following the Module/Programming Order Replacement Guide and Module Programming procedures. Refer to «Standard Procedure»(ref-457810-S41458068302012030200000) .
