DTC P1107 - MAP SENSOR CIRCUIT INTERMITTENT LOW VOLTAGE Pontiac Firebird IV

Circuit Description

Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor is mounted on top of intake manifold. MAP sensor measures pressure changes within intake manifold which indicates engine load. MAP sensor has a 5-volt reference, a ground and a signal circuit.

When manifold pressure is low (high vacuum), sensor output voltage is low. When manifold pressure is high (low vacuum), sensor output voltage is high. Depending on altitude, MAP sensor voltage can range from 1.0-1.5 volts at idle (high vacuum) to 4.0-4.9 volts at wide open throttle (low vacuum). When PCM senses a signal voltage lower that normal operating range of sensor, DTC will set.

DTC will set when following conditions are present

  1. No TP sensor DTCs set.
  2. MAP less than .24 volt.
  3. Conditions met for .3 second.
