DTC P0400 - EGR SYSTEM Pontiac Firebird IV

Note. For circuit reference, see the appropriate WIRING DIAGRAMS article. For connector and terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION .

Circuit Description

Vacuum to EGR is controlled by EGR vacuum control signal solenoid, which regulates vacuum by varying duty cycle (on-time). duty cycle is calculated by PCM based on data from ECT sensor, MAF sensor and RPM. PCM uses MAF and IAT sensor data to determine when to enable EGR system. EGR operation is prevented when transmission is in Park or Neutral, throttle angle is less than predetermined value or at wide open throttle.

DTC will set when following conditions are present

  1. DTCs P0107, P0108, P0112, P0113, P0117, P0118, P0122, P0123, P0601, P0719 or P0724 not set.
  2. Engine coolant temperature more than 81°F (27°C).
  3. Vehicle speed more than 14 MPH.
  4. BARO more than 95 kPa.
  5. Engine speed 500-900 RPM.
  6. IAC steady.
  7. MAP less than 24 kPa.
  8. A/C clutch, TCC and brake switch, no transitions.
