DTC P0106 - MAP SYSTEM PERFORMANCE Pontiac Firebird IV

Note. For circuit reference, see the appropriate WIRING DIAGRAMS article. For connector and terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION .

Circuit Description

Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor measures pressure changes within intake manifold to indicate engine load. MAP sensor is mounted on top of intake manifold. MAP sensor has a 5-volt reference circuit, ground and a signal circuit.

PCM compares MAP sensor signal activity with throttle angle and RPM. If PCM detects a large MAP change without sensing a change in throttle angle and RPM, DTC will set.

DTC will set when following conditions are present

  1. DTCs P0107, P0108, P0121, P0122 or P0123 not set.
  2. Engine operating.
  3. ASR/TCS (if equipped) not in traction event.
  4. Engine speed does not change more than 100 RPM.
  5. TP sensor angle does not change more than 5 percent.
  6. EGR position does not change more than 25 percent.
  7. IAC position at a steady rate.
  8. No change in A/C clutch, power steering, brake or transmission signal.
  9. PCM detects a substantial change in MAP without being proceeded by a large change in throttle angle and RPM.
  10. Conditions stable for .5 second.
  11. Conditions met for 4.5 seconds.
