Checks to be carried out if fault is present

conditions under which the fault appearschecks to be made conditions for checking
starting phase engine runningignition on; engine ECU, disconnected; engine speed sensor, connected: - operate the starter, the voltage varies from 4 V to 9 V between terminals 18 - 46 on the 88 V.NR connector ignition off; engine ECU, disconnected; engine speed sensor, disconnected: - (TU engines): check continuity of wires A and B - (XU engines): check continuity of wires A, B, D, M and - check the direction in which the engine speed sensor is connected (reversal of the wires) - check: sensor resistance value(s) 300 Ω ≤ R ≤ 400 Ω - check the condition of the toothed wheel and the sensor electrode

Check(s) to be carried out if no fault found

Ignition on; engine ECU, disconnected; engine speed sensor, connected:

Operate the starter; the voltage varies from 4 V to 9 V between terminals 18, 46 on the 88 V.NR connector

Ignition off; engine ECU, disconnected; engine speed sensor, disconnected:

- TU engines: check continuity of wires A and B

- XU engines: check continuity of wires A, B, D and M

Check: no earth at terminal(s) 18 - 46 on the 88 V.NR connector

Check: sensor resistance value(s) 300 ≤ R ≤ 400 Ω

Ignition on; engine ECU, disconnected; engine speed sensor, disconnected:

Check: no voltage at terminal(s) 18 - 46 of the control unit
