How to Replace the Crankshaft Opel Senator B

Remove engine with transmission. See corresponding operation.

Remove transmission, tension engine on installation stand.

Drain engine oil.

Remove cylinder head, clutch (if present), flywheel or drive disc, crankshaft pulley for water pump, crankshaft pulley for vibration damper, vibration damper, water pump, oil pan, oil pump intake pipe, timing case, tensioner blade and guide rail for primary timing chain, primary timing chain, drive gear (for oil pump and ignition distributor) and crankshaft sprocket.

Mark con - rod bearing cap and remove.

Remove crankshaft bearing cover.

Lift crankshaft out of cylinder block.

Remove seal ring.

Insert new main bearing shells and con - rod bearing shells. Ensure that the correct bearing shells are used (selection and oversizes).

Place new crankshaft in bearing.

Produce good seat in bearings by tapping lightly in the crank arm with a hammer.

Check crankshaft bearing play, end play, out - of - round and con - rod bearing play.

Before installing rear bearing cover, apply Sealing Compound 15 03 166 (90 094 714) at 4 points (arrows).

Dimension A: 12 ± 0.5 mm/0.47 ± 0.02 in.

Apply Seating Compound 15 04 201 (90 350 544) to inner surfaces (1) of rear bearing cover.

Lubricate all bearing covers, insert and tighten.

Install new seal ring with KM - 235 - D.

Tightening torques:

Crankshaft bearing cover to cylinder block - 110 Nm/81 lbf. ft.

Con - rod bearing cap to con - rod - 45 Nm/33 lbf. ft.

Further installation takes place in reverse order.
