Timing, Check
Disconnect battery.
Remove intake bridge with throttle valve part and air intake hose.
Remove intake pipe and intermediate flange.
See corresponding operations.
Remove engine compartment cover.
Remove lower coolant hose from radiator - collect coolant.

Remove spark plug cover.
Remove spark plug connection with KM - 717.
Remove cylinder head cover.

Place piston of 1st cylinder at "TDC".
Turn crankshaft until mark on flywheel (ball) aligns with mark on casing.

Install upper timing case cover with new gasket.
| Apply Adhesive Sealing Compound 15 03 294 (90 001 851) left and right (arrows) between timing case and cylinder head. | |||

Insert new rubber seal rings for spark plug shaft.
Install cylinder head cover with new rubber gasket and new rubber moulded parts (for fastening points) - 20 Nm/15 lbf. ft.
Attach spark plug connection and route ignition cable free of tension. Install ignition cable cover - 8 Nm/6 lbf. ft.
Install coolant hoses.
Connect intake pipe and intermediate flange.
Install intake bridge with throttle valve part and air intake hose.

Connect battery.
Top up and bleed cooling system.
