Before each check, perform a function check as described in section 4.1 to exclude the possibility of incorrect operation. For vehicles with ECC, the servo motors should be synchronised before the function check. Press the AUTO and OFF buttons simultaneously for approx. 5 seconds; the fan switches off temporarily.
Function Check
Maximum Cooling - Vehicles Without Ecc
- Air conditioning switch on
- Recirculating air switch on
- Both temperature switches at left stop (cold)
- Fan switch to top speed
- Air distribution switch at "face level"
- Open all vent nozzles
Effect: Cold air flows out of centre and side vent nozzles.
Maximum Cooling - Vehicles with Ecc.
- Press AUTO button
- Driver's side temperature to LO (recirculating air on automatically and fan automatically to top speed)
- Open vent nozzles.
Effect: Cold air flows out of centre and side vent nozzles.
Normal Cooling - Vehicles Without Ecc
- Air conditioning switch on
- Recirculating air switch off
- Both temperature switches at left stop (cold)
- Fan as required
- Air distribution switch at "face level"
- Open all vent nozzles
Effect: Cooled air flows out of centre and side vent nozzles.
Normal Cooling - Vehicles with Ecc (Automatic Operation)
- Press AUTO button
- Set temperature preselection in displays on driver's and co-driver's sides using "-" and "+" buttons as required, e.g. 19 �C
- Open all vent nozzles
Effect: The climate control automatically regulates the interior temperature to the set value. The fan is set automatically.
Demisting and Defrosting of Screens - Vehicles Without Ecc
- Air conditioning switch on
- Recirculating air switch off
- Both temperature switches at right stop (warm)
- Fan as required
- Air distribution switch to "windscreen"
- Close all vent nozzles
Effect: Heated, dehumidified air flows out of windscreen and head area vents.
Demisting and Defrosting of Screens - Vehicles with Ecc
- Use controls to set air distribution to screens
- Driver's side to maximum heating (HI)
- Fan as required, e.g. at speed 5
- Function display AUTO extinguishes
Effect: Screens are cleared of ice and fogging as fast as possible.
Cooling with Temperature Stratification - Vehicles Without Ecc
- Air conditioning switch on
- Recirculating air switch off
- Both temperature switches as required
- Fan as required
- Air distribution switch at "face level/footwell"
- Open vent nozzles as required
Effect: Warm air flows to footwells and from side nozzles, cooler air upwards and from the centre vent nozzles.
Automatic Operation Without Cooling - Vehicles with Ecc
- Press ECO button
- Function display AUTO extinguishes
Effect: The cooling compressor is switched off.
