  1. Start the self-diagnosis function and select "Self Diagnosis". Self-diagnosis subdivision screen is displayed, and the self-diagnosis mode starts. The bar graph visible on the center of the self-diagnosis subdivision screen indicates progress of the trouble diagnosis.
  2. Diagnosis results are displayed after the self-diagnosis is completed. The unit names and the connection lines are color-coded according to the diagnostic results. Diagnosis results Unit Connection line Normal Green Green Connection malfunction Gray Yellow Unit malfunction (1) Red Green NOTE: (1) Control unit (AV control unit) and is displayed in red. Replace AV control unit if "Self-Diagnosis did not run because of a control unit malfunction" is indicated. The symptom is AV control unit internal error. Refer to " «REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION»(ref-672661-S38174634402014112400000) ". If multiple errors occur at the same time for a single unit, the screen switch colors are determined according to the following order of priority: red > gray. The comments of the self-diagnosis results can be viewed with a component in the diagnosis result screen.

Detection Range of Self-diagnosis Mode

  1. The self-diagnosis mode allows the technician to diagnose the connection in the communication line between AV control unit and each unit and the internal operation of the AV control unit.
  2. Because the start condition of diagnosis function is a switch operation, the on board diagnosis function cannot be started up if any malfunction is detected in the communication circuit between AV control unit and multifunction switch.

HANDS-FREE PHONE SYSTEM ON BOARD DIAGNOSIS

During on board diagnosis the diagnosis function of TEL adapter unit starts with the operation of the steering switch and performs the diagnosis when ignition switch ACC.

The on board diagnosis has 3 modes: the self-diagnosis mode that performs the trouble diagnosis, the speaker adaptation data deleting mode and the hands-free phone system initialization mode.

CAUTIONPerform the diagnosis with the vehicle stopped. Perform STEP2 if necessary.
STEPMODEDescription
STEP 1Self-diagnosisThe self-diagnosis mode performs the microphone test and the diagnosis of TEL adapter unit, TEL antenna and steering unit, and then reads out the results with the sound and indicates them on the display.
STEP 2Speaker adaptation data deletingThe speaker adaptation data deleting mode can delete the speaker adaptation data.
Hands-free phone system initializationHands-free phone system initialization mode can perform the initialization of hands-free phone system.

Self-diagnosis mode reads out the self-diagnosis results.

Note. Error count is read out simultaneously when reading out the DTC name. The errors are read out continuously when some errors occur at the same time.
