System Description

When the shift selector is in the R position, the AV control unit receives camera image signals from the rear view camera and sends the camera image signals to the display unit which shows a view to the rear of the vehicle. Lines which indicate the vehicle clearance and distances are also displayed.

DESCRIPTION

  1. Diagnosis function consists of the "Self-Diagnosis" mode performed automatically and the "Confirmation/Adjustment" mode operated manually.
  2. "Self-Diagnosis" mode checks for connections between the units constituting this system, analyzes each individual unit at the same time, and displays the results on the LCD screen.
  3. "Confirmation/Adjustment" mode is used to perform trouble diagnosis that requires operation and judgment by an operator (trouble that cannot be automatically judged by the system), to check/change the set value, and to display the error history of the AV control unit.

CAN (Controller Area Network) is a serial communication line for real time application. It is an on-vehicle multiplex communication line with high data communication speed and excellent error detection ability. Many electronic control units are equipped onto a vehicle and each control unit shares information and links with other control units during operation (not independent). In CAN communication, control units are connected with 2 communication lines (CAN-H, CAN-L) allowing a high rate of information transmission with less wiring. Each control unit transmits/receives data but selectively reads required data only.

Initial diagnosis of AV control unit.

Replace the AV control unit if this DTC is displayed. Refer to " REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION ".

Replace the AV control unit if this DTC is displayed. Refer to " REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION ".

DISPLAY UNITDisplay image is controlled by the serial communication from AV control unit. Inputs the RGB image signal (RGB, RGB area and RGB synchronizing) from AV control unit and the auxiliary image signal from the auxiliary input jacks. Outputs the synchronizing signals (HP and VP) to the AV control unit.

The AV control unit sends audio signals to the front door speakers using the front door speaker circuits.

When one of the steering wheel AV control switches is pushed, the resistance in the steering wheel AV control switch circuit changes depending on which button is pushed.

Rear view camera signals are transmitted from the rear view camera to the AV control unit using the camera signal circuits.

The majority of the audio concerns are the result of outside causes (bad CD, electromagnetic interference, etc.).

NOISE

The following noise results from variations in field strength, such as fading noise and multi-path noise, or external noise from trains and other sources. It is not a malfunction.

  1. Fading noise: This noise occurs because of variations in the field strength in a narrow range due to mountains or buildings blocking the signal.
  2. Multi-path noise: This noise results from the waves sent directly from the broadcast station arriving at the antenna at a different time from the waves which reflect off mountains or buildings.

The vehicle itself can be a source of noise if noise prevention parts or electrical equipment is malfunctioning. Check if noise is caused and/or changed by engine speed, ignition switch turned to each position, and operation of each piece of electrical equipment, and determine the cause.

Note. The source of the noise can be found easily by listening to the noise while removing the fuses of electrical components, one by one.

OPERATION PROCEDURE

  1. Connect both battery cables. NOTE: Supply power using jumper cables if battery is discharged.
  2. Use the Intelligent Key or mechanical key to turn the ignition switch to the "ACC" position. At this time, the steering lock will be released.
  3. Disconnect both battery cables. The steering lock will remain released and the steering wheel can be rotated.
  4. Perform the necessary repair operation.
  5. When the repair work is completed, return the ignition switch to the "LOCK" position before connecting the battery cables. (At this time, the steering lock mechanism will engage.)
  6. Perform a self-diagnosis check of all control units using CONSULT.
