Key Interlock System Inspection
- Switch the ignition to ON.
- Perform the following procedures to inspect the key interlock system. If there is any malfunction, inspect the key interlock solenoid and NOT P position switch. (See «KEY INTERLOCK SOLENOID INSPECTION»(ref-581689-S37728530142013101400000) .) (See «NOT P POSITION SWITCH INSPECTION»(ref-581689-S11300317752013101400000) .) Verify that the ignition cannot be switched to off when the selector lever is not in the P position. Verify that the ignition can be switched to off when the selector lever is in the P position.
Key Interlock Solenoid Inspection
| CAUTION | Water or foreign objects entering the connector can cause a poor connection or corrosion. Be sure not to drop water or foreign objects on the connector when disconnecting it. |

- Disconnect the key interlock solenoid connector. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Remove the column cover. (See «COLUMN COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(ref-581614-S36009183262013101400000).) - Measure the resistance between key interlock solenoid terminals A and B. (Scheme 1323): Identifying Key Interlock Solenoid Connector Terminals A And B If there is any malfunction, replace the steering lock. - Measure the continuity between selector lever component terminals G and K. (Scheme 1325): Identifying Selector Lever Component Connector Terminals G And K If there is any malfunction, replace the selector lever component.
