Operation Inspection

1. Verify that the starter operates only when the ignition is switched to START with the selector lever in P or N position.
2. Verify that the back-up lights illuminate when selected to R position with the ignition at ON.
3. Verify that the positions of the selector lever and the selector indicator light are aligned. If there is any malfunction, adjust the TR switch. (See «TRANSAXLE RANGE (TR) SWITCH ADJUSTMENT [FS5A-EL]»(ref-581660-S11519395092013101400000).)

1. Engage the parking brake and use wheel chocks at the front and rear of the wheels.
2. Disconnect the TR switch connector. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Remove the air cleaner component. (See «INTAKE-AIR SYSTEM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZR 2.5]»(ref-581645-S06665670962013101400000).) Disconnect the TR switch connector. (Scheme 679): Identifying Transaxle Range Switch
3. Inspect continuity as indicated in the table. (Scheme 680): Identifying Transaxle Range Switch Connector Terminals If there is any malfunction, adjust the TR switch.
