| CAUTION | The PCM is built into the air cleaner cover. Applying excessive pressure to the cover could damage the PCM. Be careful not to put your hands on the PCM during the removal/installation. Removing the PCM from the air cleaner cover could damage the sealing or the circuitry. Do not remove the PCM from the air cleaner cover. |
- Remove the air cleaner cover. (See «INTAKE-AIR SYSTEM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZR 1.5]»(ref-517447-S10648211572012121200000) .)
- Install in the reverse order of removal.
- When replacing the PCM on the vehicles, perform the following: PCM configuration (See «PCM CONFIGURATION [MZR 1.5]»(ref-517439-S16064826082012121200000) .) PCM parameter reset (See «IMMOBILIZER SYSTEM-RELATED PARTS PROGRAMMING [KEYLESS ENTRY SYSTEM]»(ref-517460-S19892785792012121200000) .)
VARIABLE TUMBLE SHUTTER VALVE POSITION SENSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZR 1.5]
| CAUTION | The variable tumble shutter valve position sensor cannot be removed as a single unit. When replacing the variable tumble shutter valve position sensor, replace it together with the variable tumble shutter valve actuator as a single unit. |
- Remove the variable tumble shutter valve actuator. (See «VARIABLE TUMBLE SHUTTER VALVE ACTUATOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZR 1.5]»(ref-517447-S07239373582012121200000) .)
ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE (ECT) SENSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZR 1.5]
| WARNING | When the engine is hot, it can badly burn. Turn off the engine and wait until it is cool before removing the ECT sensor. |

Scheme 32: ECT Sensor No.1 Removal/Installation
- Disconnect the negative battery cable.

- Remove the battery. (See «BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZR 1.5]»(ref-517452-S26026055392012121200000).)
- Disconnect the ECT sensor No.1 connector.
- Remove the ECT sensor No.1 using the SST. (Scheme 32): ECT Sensor No.1 And Special Tool With Torque Specifications
- Install in the reverse order of removal.
- Refill the engine coolant. (See «ENGINE COOLANT REPLACEMENT [MZR 1.5]»(ref-517443-S15590813912012121200000).)

Scheme 33: ECT Sensor No.2 Removal/Installation
- Disconnect the negative battery cable.
- Drain the engine coolant. (See «ENGINE COOLANT REPLACEMENT [MZR 1.5]»(ref-517443-S15590813912012121200000).)
- Disconnect the ECT sensor No.2 connector.
- Remove the ECT sensor No.2 using the SST. (Scheme 33): ECT Sensor No.2 And Special Tool With Torque Specifications
- Install in the reverse order of removal.
- Refill the engine coolant. (See «ENGINE COOLANT REPLACEMENT [MZR 1.5]»(ref-517443-S15590813912012121200000).)
MASS AIR FLOW (MAF)/INTAKE AIR TEMPERATURE (IAT) SENSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZR 1.5]
| CAUTION | Neither the MAF nor the IAT sensor cannot be removed as a single unit. When replacing the MAF or IAT sensor, replace it together with the other sensor as a single unit. |

- Disconnect the negative battery cable.

THROTTLE POSITION (TP) SENSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZR 1.5]
| CAUTION | The TP sensor cannot be removed as a single unit. When replacing the TP sensor, replace it together with the throttle body as a single unit. |

ACCELERATOR PEDAL POSITION (APP) SENSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZR 1.5]

AIR FUEL RATIO (A/F) SENSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZR 1.5]

- Disconnect the negative battery cable.

- Disconnect the A/F sensor connector.
- Remove the A/F sensor using the SST. (Scheme 35): Locating A/F Sensor With Torque Specifications
- Install in the reverse order of removal.
Scheme 36
Scheme 36: A/F Sensor Inspection
- Warm up the engine to normal operating temperature.
- Using the M-MDS, monitor the following: Vehicle speed (PID: VSS) Engine speed (PID: RPM) A/F sensor current (PID: O2S11)
- Drive the vehicle and decelerate the engine speed by releasing the accelerator pedal fully when the engine speed is 3,000 rpm or more.
- Verify that the A/F sensor current (PID: O2S11) is 0.25 mA or more while decelerating as shown in the figure. (Scheme 36): A/F Sensor Current Graph If not as specified, replace the A/F sensor. - Disconnect the A/F sensor connector.

Scheme 39: HO2S Inspection
- Warm up the engine to normal operating temperature.
- Using the M-MDS, monitor the following: Vehicle speed (PID: VSS) Engine speed (PID: RPM) HO2S voltage (PID: O2S12)
- Drive the vehicle and decelerate the engine speed by releasing the accelerator pedal fully when the engine speed is 3,000 rpm or more.
- Verify that the HO2S outputs a voltage of 0.6 V or more, one time or more, then verify that the HO2S voltage (PID: O2S12) is 0.3 V or less while decelerating as shown in the figure. CRANKSHAFT POSITION (CKP) SENSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZR 1.5]
| CAUTION | When replacing the CKP sensor, make sure there is no foreign material on it such as metal shavings. If it is installed with foreign material, the sensor output signal will malfunction resulting from fluctuation in magnetic flux and cause a deterioration in engine control. |

FUEL TANK PRESSURE SENSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZR 1.5]
| CAUTION | The fuel tank pressure sensor cannot be removed as a single unit. When replacing the fuel tank pressure sensor, replace it together with the evaporative hose component as a single unit. |

- Disconnect the negative battery cable.
- Disconnect the fuel tank pressure sensor connector.
- Remove the wiring harness from the fuel tank pressure sensor bracket.
- Remove the evaporative hose from the charcoal canister bracket.
