  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Drain the engine coolant. (See «COOLING SYSTEM SERVICE WARNINGS [MZR 1.5]».)
  3. Disconnect the ECT sensor No.2 connector.
  4. Remove the ECT sensor No.2. (See «VARIABLE VALVE TIMING ACTUATOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZR 1.5]».)
  5. Place the ECT sensor No.2 in water with a thermometer, and heat the water gradually.
  6. Measure the resistance between the ECT sensor No.2 terminals using an ohmmeter. (Scheme 17): Identifying ECT Sensor No.2 Connector Terminals If not as specified, replace the ECT sensor No.2. (See «VARIABLE VALVE TIMING ACTUATOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZR 1.5]».)
