Automatic A/c-Heater Systems: Diagnosis Jaguar S-type I

FUNCTIONAL TEST

Note. All mode button LEDs should illuminate when button is pressed.

Start engine and allow to idle at normal operating temperature.

1. Press AUTO button (selected temperature should be displayed, AUTO and A/C LEDs should illuminate).
2. Operate fan speed switch to increase or decrease fan speed (ensure bar graph increases and decreases).
3. Press A/C button to toggle compressor clutch on and off (if engine temperature is not normal or ambient air temperature is less than 32°F (0°C) compressor operation may be inhibited.)
4. Push recirculated/fresh air button (button LED should illuminate and flap behind blower grille opens).
5. Push different air distribution buttons (selected button LED should illuminate and air flows out of appropriate vents).
6. Push defrost (button LED should illuminate, fan should engage at high speed and air flows to front windshield).
7. Cycle temperature buttons from HI to LO (maximum heat or cold, independent of in-car temperature).
8. Push EXT button (display should toggle between outside and desired temperature).
9. Push heated front "F" or heated rear "R" window button (note timer and outside mirror operation).
