DTC P0340: CAMSHAFT POSITION (CMP) SENSOR Infiniti I30 I

Testing & Diagnostics 1 illustration ~203 words
  1. Check Input Signal Circuit - Turn ignition off. Disconnect ECM harness connector. Disconnect CMP sensor harness connector. (Scheme 22) Verify harness continuity between CMP sensor terminal No. 1 (White wire) and ECM terminals No. 46 and 47. see scheme 4 If continuity is present, go to next step. If continuity is not present, repair harness or connectors as necessary.
  2. Check Ground Circuit - Leave ignition off and ECM disconnected. Verify harness continuity between CMP sensor connector terminal No. 2 (Black wire) and engine ground. If continuity is present, go to next step. If continuity is not present, repair harness or connectors as necessary.
  3. Check Component - Disconnect and remove CMP sensor. Loosen CMP sensor fixing bolt. With ambient temperature about 68°F (20°C), measure resistance between CMP sensor terminals. Resistance should be as follows: For Hitachi CMP sensor, 1440-1760 ohms. For Mitsubishi CMP sensor, 2090-2550 ohms. If resistance is as specified, go to next step. If resistance is not as specified, replace CMP sensor.
  4. Disconnect ECM wiring harness connector. Check connector pins for damage or corrosion. Check all circuit connectors for clean, tight fit and service if necessary. If fault is still present, replace CMP sensor.
