DIAGNOSTIC MODES

Self-diagnostic system can detect ECCS malfunctions and store related trouble codes. Intermittent codes are also stored. All codes are stored until cleared from memory. If an intermittent DTC does not reoccur 3 complete drive cycles, it will be cleared from memory.

Mode 3: Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs)

This is self-diagnostic mode for retrieving DTCs stored in ECM memory.

(1) MIL DTC is not available. (2) Freeze frame data will not be stored in the ECM for the knock sensor. The MIL will not light for a knock sensor malfunction. (3) In case of the diagnostic item, the freeze frame data will not be stored in the ECM. This diagnosis does not have 2 trip detection logic, and will not light up the MIL. (4) See TRANSMISSION section for test procedures.
