Throttle Body Removal/Installation
| CAUTION | Do not insert your fingers into the installed throttle body when you turn the ignition switch ON (II) or while the ignition switch is ON (II). If you do, you will seriously injure your finger if the throttle valve is activated. |
Note. If you are replacing the throttle body, begin at step 1. If you are removing the throttle body, begin at step 4 .

- Connect the HDS while the engine is stopped.
- Select the INSPECTION MENU with the HDS.
- Do the TP POSITION CHECK in the ETCS TEST.
- Remove the intake air duct (A).
- Disconnect the throttle body connector (B), the EVAP canister purge valve connector (C) and the MAP sensor connector (D).
- Disconnect the water bypass hoses (E), and plug them.
- Disconnect the vacuum hose (F).
- Remove the harness clip (G) and the throttle body (H).
- Install the parts in the reverse order of removal with a new gasket (I), then check these items: Do the ECM/PCM idle learn procedure after the throttle body is replaced (see «ECM/PCM IDLE LEARN PROCEDURE»(ref-219374-S42320443812006021400000) ). Refill the radiator with engine coolant (see «COOLANT CHECK»(ref-219368-S38780573812006021400000) ), and bleed air from the cooling system with the heater valve open.

- Drain the engine coolant (see «COOLANT CHECK»(ref-219368-S38780573812006021400000) ).
- Remove the intake manifold cover (see step 1 on «REMOVAL»(ref-219367-S00645433972006021400000) ).
- Remove the throttle body (see «THROTTLE BODY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(ref-219376-S30644524212006021400000) ).
- Disconnect the hoses (A) from the intake air bypass control thermal valve (B).
- Disconnect the radiator upper hose (C) and the engine coolant bypass hoses (D) from the engine coolant outlet (E).
- Remove the engine coolant outlet. NOTE: Do not separate the intake air bypass control thermal valve from the engine coolant outlet. If necessary, replace the engine coolant outlet assembly.
- Refill the engine coolant (see «COOLANT CHECK»(ref-219368-S38780573812006021400000) ). NOTE: Be sure to close the under-hood fuse/relay box lid when refilling the engine coolant. Do not spill the engine coolant on the electric parts and painted surface. Wipe up the spilled engine coolant immediately.

- Remove the throttle cable (A) from the accelerator pedal (B).
- Remove the nuts (C) and the accelerator pedal.
- Install the pedal in the reverse order of removal.
Scheme 307
- Remove the two screws (A) and the IMT position sensor (B).
- Install the sensor with a new O-ring (C), and make sure the projection (D) inside the IMT valve matches up with the groove (E) in the sensor.

- Remove the intake manifold (see «INTAKE MANIFOLD REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION»(ref-219367-S16877238822006021400000) ).
- Disconnect the vacuum hose (A).
- Remove the bolts (B).
- Remove the IMT actuator assembly (C). NOTE: When installing the IMT actuator, make sure the bearing (D) is in place. Make sure the IMT assembly does not interfere with the intake manifold (E). When installing the IMT actuator, replace the O-rings (F).
- Install the IMT actuator assembly (A) so the hole (B) is visible.
- Turn the IMT actuator assembly (A), and align the bolt holes. NOTE: When turning the IMT actuator assembly, make sure the stop (B) fits into the groove (C).
