Principles of Operation
Note. Upon installation of a new generic electronic module (GEM), the module must be reconfigured. Refer to MODULE CONFIGURATION article prior to GEM removal.
The GEM is the only multifunction module on this vehicle.
Normal Operation
The central junction box (CJB) provides voltage to the GEM through circuits 29-AA17 (OG/WH) and 29-DK20 (OG/GN).
The central junction box (CJB) provides voltage to the GEM through circuits 29-AA17 (OG/WH) and 29-DK20 (OG/GN).
The GEM is grounded through circuits 31-DK20 (BK) and 91-DK20 (BK/RD).
The GEM connects to the data link connector (DLC) through the international standards organization (ISO) 9141 communications network, circuit 8-EE9 (WH/GN). For the communications network, refer to MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK article.
Possible Causes
- fuse(s)
- circuit 29-AA17 (OG/WH) open or short to ground
- circuit 29-DK20 (OG/GN) open or short to ground
- circuit 31-DK20 (BK) open
- circuit 91-DK20 (BK/RD) open
