Engine and Gearbox Suspension - Repair (n54) BMW Z4 E89

22 11 011 Replacing left engine mount (N54)

Necessary preliminary tasks

  1. Secure engine in «INSTALLATION POSITION»(/bmw/z4/e89-2009-2013/remont/mechanical/#engine-repair-n54__11-00-670-securing-engine-in)
  2. Remove «REAR UNDERBODY PROTECTION»(ref-381258-S25614082772010122800000) .
  3. Detach ground cable from body.

Release screws (1) and remove engine mount.

Tightening torque 22 11 1AZ .

Installation

Rubber section (1) of engine mount must point to middle of vehicle.

22 11 110 Replacing left engine support arm (N54)

Necessary preliminary tasks

  1. Secure engine in «INSTALLATION POSITION»(/bmw/z4/e89-2009-2013/remont/mechanical/#engine-repair-n54__11-00-670-securing-engine-in)
  2. Remove «REAR UNDERBODY PROTECTION»(ref-381258-S25614082772010122800000) and «FRONT UNDERBODY PROTECTION»(ref-381258-S36346312162010122800000) .

Release grounding strap (1) from engine support arm.

Release screw (2).

Take off holder (3). Release screws (4).

Remove engine support arm.

Tightening torque 22 11 3AZ

22 11 001 Replacing right engine mount (N54)

Necessary preliminary tasks

  1. Secure engine in «INSTALLATION POSITION»(/bmw/z4/e89-2009-2013/remont/mechanical/#engine-repair-n54__11-00-670-securing-engine-in)
  2. Remove «REAR UNDERBODY PROTECTION»(ref-381258-S25614082772010122800000)
  3. Lower «FRONT AXLE SUPPORT»(/bmw/z4/e89-2009-2013/remont/axle-shafts/#front-axle-repair__31-11-506-loweringraising-front-axle)

Release screws (1) and remove engine mount.

Tightening torque 22 11 1AZ .

Installation

Stop (1) is mounted on engine support arm.

Installation

Rubber section (1) of engine mount must point to middle of vehicle.

22 11 100 Replacing right engine support arm (N54)

Necessary preliminary tasks

  1. Secure engine in «INSTALLATION POSITION»(/bmw/z4/e89-2009-2013/remont/mechanical/#engine-repair-n54__11-00-670-securing-engine-in)
  2. Remove «REAR UNDERBODY PROTECTION»(ref-381258-S25614082772010122800000) and «FRONT UNDERBODY PROTECTION»(ref-381258-S36346312162010122800000) .
  3. Remove both catalytic converters. See «1832050 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING CATALYTIC EXHAUST-GAS CONVERTER FOR CYLINDERS 1-3 (N54)»(/bmw/z4/e89-2009-2013/remont/exhaust/#exhaust-system-repair-n54__18-32-050-removing-and-installingreplacing) or «1832060 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING CATALYTIC EXHAUST-GAS CONVERTER FOR CYLINDERS 4-6 (N54)»(/bmw/z4/e89-2009-2013/remont/exhaust/#exhaust-system-repair-n54__18-32-060-removing-and-installingreplacing) .

Release screws (1).

Remove engine support arm from engine.

Tightening torque 22 11 3AZ

22 31 050 Replacing cross member for transmission mounting

Note. Operations are identical to Replacing RUBBER MOUNT for transmission mounting.

22 31 001 Replacing rubber mount for transmission mounting

Necessary preliminary work

  1. Remove «REAR UNDERBODY PROTECTION»(ref-381258-S25614082772010122800000) .
  2. Remove heat shield
  3. Support transmission with jack.

Remove screws and nuts.

Remove transmission cross member.

Remove rubber mount from transmission cross member.

Tightening torque 22 32 3AZ/4AZ .

Note. Operations are identical to Replacing RUBBER MOUNT for transmission mounting.

Necessary preliminary work

  1. Remove «REAR UNDERBODY PROTECTION»(ref-381258-S25614082772010122800000) .
  2. Remove heat shield
  3. Support transmission with jack.

Remove screws and nuts.

Remove transmission cross member.

Remove rubber mount from transmission cross member.

Tightening torque 22 32 3AZ/4AZ .
