Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Memory, Checking and Erasing Audi A8 D3

1. Connect vehicle diagnostic, testing and information system VAS5051 or VAG1551 scan tool and select "Engine Electronics" by entering address word 01. NOTE: After erasing the DTC memory generate readiness code. See «READINESS CODE, GENERATING»(ref-216437-S25676712792006020800000) .
2. Switch on printer with PRINT button (indicator light in button lights up).

1. Operate scan tool according to information on display
2. Press buttons -0- and -2- to select function "Check DTC Memory" and confirm entry with -Q- button.

The display will show either the number of malfunctions stored or the message "No DTC recognized."

If no malfunction is stored

1. Press --> button. NOTE: If no malfunction is stored in the DTC memory, do not erase memory, otherwise readiness code must be generated. If the DTC memory was erased, generate readiness code. See «READINESS CODE, GENERATING»(ref-216437-S25676712792006020800000) .

If one or more malfunctions are stored

The stored malfunctions will be displayed and printed out in sequence.

1. Locate and eliminate printed out malfunctions according to DTC table. See «DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) TABLE»(ref-216437-S06426438052006020800000) .
2. Press buttons -0- and -5- to select function "DTC Memory" and confirm entry with -Q- button. Indicated on display: NOTE: If the ignition is switched off between checking DTC memory and erasing the DTC memory, the DTC memory will not be erased. It is therefore important to follow the procedure exactly, i.e. first check DTC memory and then erase it.
3. Press --> button. Indicated on display
4. Press buttons -0- and -6- to select function "End Output" and confirm entry with -Q- button. NOTE: During testing and repair work, malfunctions can be recognized from other control modules (for example, disconnected harness connectors). Therefore on completion, the DTC memories of all control modules must be checked and erased. To do this perform the automatic test sequence
