Open glove compartment cover. Remove three bolts -3- at top in depressions of glove compartment -1-. Remove outside bolts -5- (2x) out from the side. Remove bolts -4- (2x) from the footwell out from below. Remove glove compartment downward. Remove connector -6- of glove compartment illumination. Disconnect harness connectors to electrical components in glove compartment (if applicable).

Pulling Off Right Cover On Instrument Panel

1. Pull off right cover on instrument panel -arrow- using special tool 3370.

Glove compartment lock, removing and installing

1. Removing

1. Open glove compartment cover.
2. Remove bolt -3- of handle -2- on the cover side.
3. Pull handle -3- off from glove compartment cover.
4. Push pin -4- through and remove the lock -1-.

2. Press pin -1- out in direction of arrow at connection between brake for glove compartment cover -2- and glove compartment cover -3-.
3. Open glove compartment cover.

There is a hole on each side near the bracket on the right and left inside the glove compartment.

1. Knock the pins -2- on left and right out of the glove compartment -1- using a drift (4 mm).
2. Remove glove compartment cover.

Installing First engage driver-side storage compartment on bottom edge into the guides, then clip it to instrument panel above.

1. Pull off right cover on instrument panel -arrow- using special tool 3370.
2. Disconnect electrical harness connector -2-.
3. Remove bolt -1- and remove angle bracket -3- and additional speaker -4-.

As a replacement part, the center console is supplied without holes for the cellular phone holder. The holes must be drilled afterward.

Removing/Installing Switch Mount

2. Press catches -arrow A- on left and right to the outside and swing switch mount to the rear -arrow B-.
3. Disengage switch mount below at rear of center console.
4. Disconnect electrical harness connectors.
5. Unclip switches -1- and -2-.

Interior rear view mirror, removing and installing

1. Removing When removing, turn rear view mirror -1- around 60 to 90 ° -arrow B-, until locking spring disengages and remove mirror -arrow A-.
2. Installing When installing, position mirror -1- at 60 to 90 ° offset to installation position -arrow A- and turn -arrow B- until retaining spring engages.

1. Removing Unclip cable channel cover -3-. Remove connector from retainer and disconnect. NOTE: Do not use cable channel -2- to turn mirror. When removing, rotate mirror -1- about 60 to 90 ° -arrow B- until retaining spring releases and remove mirror -arrow A-.
2. Installing NOTE: Do not use cable channel -2- to turn mirror. When installing, position mirror -1- at 60 to 90 ° offset to installation position -arrow A- and turn -arrow B- until retaining spring engages.

1. Removing Unclip cable channel cover -2-. Remove connector from retainer and disconnect. Pull rear view mirror -1- down at an angle -arrow- to release from retaining plate (retaining springs in base of mirror).
2. Installing NOTE: Do not use cable channel -2- to turn mirror. When installing, position mirror -1- at 60 to 90 ° offset to installation position -arrow A- and turn -arrow B- until retaining spring engages.

Automatic day/night interior rear view mirror, testing function

Test requirements

1. Rear view mirror installed.
2. Ignition switched on.
3. Reverse gear not selected.

Test sequence

1. Cover photo sensor on front of mirror (or tape).
2. Use a light source (flashlight) to direct light onto the photo sensor on rear of mirror. The interior rear view mirror must darken within a few seconds.

Interior rear view mirror with compass (only USA), calibrating

Setting of North is integrated in interior rear view mirror via a world-zone dependent magnetic field.

The compass directions N, NE, E, SE, S, SW, W and NW are shown in the digital display. see scheme 48

A new rear view mirror, or a rear view mirror which has had no current for a long period of time, must be initially calibrated prior to use (nothing or a "C" appears in display).

Calibration of a new compass

1. Switch ignition on.
2. "C" must appear in display.
3. If there is no "C", press adjustment switch on underside of mirror using a thin object (e.g. pencil) until "C" appears in display.
4. Drive slowly at approx. 10 km/h around in a circle 2 to 3 times until a compass direction is displayed.
5. Press adjustment switch on underside of mirror using a thin object (e.g. pencil) until the number of your zone appears in display.
6. Refer to the adjacent card for your zone.
7. A compass direction appears in the display after a few seconds.

Calibration of an already existing compass

1. Switch ignition on.
2. "C" must appear in display.
3. If there is no "C", press adjustment switch on underside of mirror using a thin object (e.g. pencil) until "C" appears in display.
4. Drive slowly at approx. 10 km/h around in a circle 2 to 3 times until a compass direction is displayed.

Zone adjustment

1. Switch ignition on.
2. Press adjustment switch on underside of mirror using a thin object (e.g. pencil) until the number of your zone appears in display.
3. Refer to the adjacent card for your zone.
4. A compass direction appears in the display after a few seconds.

Scheme 14

1. Interior rear view mirror dimension -a- = 153 mm (upper edge of front sheet to center adhering plate on mirror support).

Procedure

1. Pull mirror plate out of mirror base.
2. Using a wire brush, remove any remaining adhesive from mirror plate.
3. Sand the three spacer knobs on the adhesive surface. Use sandpaper (360/400 grit) on level surface.
4. Maintain sanded surface free of dirt and grease.
5. Using glass scraper, scrape adhesive and primer down to ceramic layer on windshield.

1. Clean adhesive surface with adhesive remover D 002 000 10 or cleaning solution D 009 401 04.
2. Cut nylon mesh to exact dimensions of mirror base.

Note. Wear rubber gloves.

1. Spread thick layer of adhesive evenly on mirror base.
2. Lay nylon mesh on mirror base.
3. While applying more adhesive, use tube to tap lightly on nylon mesh. 30 seconds are available between applying adhesive to nylon mesh and pressing onto windshield.
4. Press mirror base (without force) onto windshield and hold for 15 seconds.
5. Use a towel to remove excess adhesive. NOTE: Install rear view mirror after 15 minutes.
