Outside rear view mirror, assembly overview

The following list pertains to see scheme 2.

1. Mirror housing May be removed from door without removing entire outside rear view mirror. See «OUTSIDE REAR VIEW MIRROR HOUSING, ASSEMBLY OVERVIEW»(/audi/a4/b6-2000-2006/remont/mirrors/#exterior-equipment-except-cabriolet__outside-rear-view-mirror-housing-assembly) .
2. Adjusting motor Removing, see «OUTSIDE REAR VIEW MIRROR ADJUSTING MOTOR, REMOVING AND INSTALLING»(/audi/a4/b6-2000-2006/remont/mirrors/#exterior-equipment-except-cabriolet__outside-rear-view-mirror-adjusting-motor)
3. Mirror adjusting unit Before removing, remove outside rear view mirror from door To remove, pry off mirror lens, disconnect electrical harness connectors for mirror heater, remove phillips-head screws -6- and remove mirror adjusting unit from mirror housing -1-.
4. Mirror lens Use special tool 80--200 (pry bar) to unclip. Protect mirror housing against damage using textile tape above and below. Press mirror lens first downward, then upward. To install mirror lens into guide pins and friction finger, insert into friction spring and press on. Apply pressure only on center of glass, wear protective gloves while doing so.

7. Combination bolt 12 Nm
8. Seal Ensure correct seating when installing.
9. Mirror base

Outside rear view mirror lens, installing

1. Install mirror lens -3- with locking tabs onto mirror lens base -2- in direction of arrow.
2. Friction finger must be inserted into friction spring -arrow- of housing -1- while doing so.
3. Apply pressure only on center of glass, wear protective gloves while doing so.

Outside rear view mirror adjusting motor, removing and installing

1. Mirror lens removed.
2. Remove bolts -arrows- from mirror adjusting unit.
3. Remove motor -2- from mirror adjusting unit and disconnect electrical harness connector.
4. When installing, tighten bolts to 1 Nm.

Outside rear view mirror housing, assembly overview

The following list pertains to see scheme 5.

1. Mirror housing Removing: Unthread bolts -4- from cover trim -3- and remove them downward. Release housing from locking tabs on mirror adjusting unit and pull upward. Installing: Position mirror housing onto mirror adjusting unit -2- from above. While doing so, locking tabs -arrows-in mirror adjusting unit must engage above and below see scheme 6

3. Lower trim strip.
4. Combination bolts 1 Nm

1. When installing, locking tab -arrow A- of mirror adjusting unit -2- must be inserted into mirror housing catches -1- in direction of arrow.

Front wheel housing liner, assembly overview

The following list pertains to see scheme 7.

1. Fender
2. Bolt 2.3 Nm
3. Front wheel housing liner Take off front wheel before removal. To remove, unfasten quick-release bolts -6-. Remove bolts -2-. Disengage wheel housing liner from fender and rotate downward to remove.
4. Expanding nut
5. Side member trim
6. Quick-release bolt

Rear wheel housing liner, assembly overview

The following list pertains to see scheme 8.

1. Rear wheel housing liner Take off rear wheel before removal. Remove bolts -2-. Pull wheel housing liner downward and out of wheel well.
2. Bolt 1.5 Nm
3. Combination bolt Only inserted in right side of vehicle.
4. Expanding nut
