Navigation System - Cabriolet Audi A4 B6

CAUTIONBefore beginning repairs on the electrical system: Obtain the anti-theft radio security code. Switch the ignition off. Disconnect the battery Ground (GND) strap. After reconnecting vehicle battery, re-code and check operation of anti-theft radio. Also check operation of clock and power windows according to Repair Manual and/or Owner's Manual.

Note. Further measures after reconnecting power supply: See PROCEDURE AFTER INTERRUPTION OF VOLTAGE SUPPLY (1.8L), or PROCEDURE FOLLOWING INTERRUPTION OF VOLTAGE SUPPLY (3.0L).

All displays appear on the instrument cluster which is connected via the CAN-bus.

All entries are made via buttons on multi-function switch.

A radio with speakers is necessary for voice output

The system consists of

  1. Multi-function switch (operating unit)
  2. Instrument cluster (display unit)
  3. Control module for navigation with CD-mechanism (central unit and navigation unit)
  4. GPS-antenna

  1. Pull up parking brake lever.
  2. Unclip cover -2- below the parking brake lever at mounting springs -1-.
  3. Grasp opening below parking brake lever and press Convertible Top Operation Switch/navigation out of center console from bottom -arrows-.
  4. Disconnect electrical harness connectors -3 to 6-.
  5. Carefully release catches -arrows- using a small screwdriver.
  6. Remove Function Selector Switch II position 1 from mounting frame -2-.

Installation is the reverse of removal

  1. T10057 radio removal tool
  1. Open lid in left luggage compartment side trim.
  2. Insert two hooks of T10057 radio removal tool into the front of Control module for navigation with CD drive -2-. Top L- left top Top R- right top
  3. Pull Control module for navigation with CD-mechanism out of mounting frame -1-.
  4. Disconnect electrical harness connectors and antenna wire at rear of control module for navigation with CD-mechanism.
  5. Remove radio removal tool from control module for navigation with CD-mechanism, press locking latches at control module to do so.

Installation is the reverse of removal, paying attention to the following

Note. After installation of a new control module for navigation, the navigation must remain switched on for a specific time so that the system data of the respective satellites can be loaded. This procedure should be performed outdoors and can last up to 20 minutes. Only following this is the navigation usable.

  2. Unplug electrical connectors -2-.
  3. Remove bolts -arrows- and remove left antenna module -1-.
  4. Connect harness connectors according to the color coding.
  5. Tighten connections of antenna module to 3.5 Nm.
Scheme 1
  1. Remove rear lid trim. See «LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT TRIM»(/audi/a4/b6-2000-2006/remont/gauges-instrument-panels/#interior-trim-cabriolet) .
  2. Unplug electrical connector -2-.
  3. Remove bolts -arrows- and remove right antenna module -1
  4. Tighten connections of antenna module to 3.5 Nm
Scheme 2
  1. Remove rear lid trim. See «LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT TRIM»(/audi/a4/b6-2000-2006/remont/gauges-instrument-panels/#interior-trim-cabriolet) .
  2. Unplug connector -1-.
  3. Remove bolts -arrows- and remove GPS antenna -2-.
  4. Tighten connections of GPS antenna to 3.5 Nm.
Scheme 3
  1. Remove rear lid trim. See «LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT TRIM»(/audi/a4/b6-2000-2006/remont/gauges-instrument-panels/#interior-trim-cabriolet) .
  2. Disconnect harness connectors -3-.
  3. Remove bolts -2- and remove base plate -1- with antenna.
  4. Remove bolts -4- and remove antenna from base plate -1-.

Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal.
