Installing the Height Adjustment Drive Shaft

Install

  1. the drive shaft
  2. the bushing
  3. the connector
  4. the height adjustment motor. See «Height Adjustment Motor, Front»(ref-406997-S37253676842011070100000) and «Height Adjustment Motor, Rear»(ref-406997-S05957684682011070100000) .

Replacing Front-Rear Adjustment Drive System

Remove

  1. the seat, the bracket and front-rear adjustment motor according to «Front-rear adjustment motor»(ref-406997-S06028887592011070100000) .

Install

According to Front-Rear Adjustment Motor .

Replacing the Front-Rear Adjustment Motor

For first generation power seats, replace the front-rear adjustment motor. See Front-Rear Adjustment Motor (-2004) or Electric Motor Front-Rear Adjustment, Replacing (2005-).

For second generation power seats, replace the front-rear adjustment motor. See Front-Rear Adjustment Motor (-2004) or Electric Motor Front-Rear Adjustment, Replacing (2005-).

Replacing the motor for front-rear adjustment

Remove

  1. the bracket. See «Bracket (cross stay)»(ref-406997-S29005676482011070100000) .

Note. Bend the system upwards until it can be dismantled.

Note. Ensure that the rails do not alter position during replacement.

Install

In reverse order.

The seat must be tightened to the floor. Tighten to 48 Nm .

Scheme 169: Head Restraint Front Seat

Press the two catches at the bottom of the protective pad downwards.

Press through the upholstery.

Lift the head restraint upwards while the catches are pressed in.

Press down head restraint until the catches lock.

Note. Check by lifting the head restraint. It should not be possible to move it upwards.

Replacing Height Adjustment Gear Motor, Front

HINT: To facilitate the work read "Tips" Tip .

Remove

  1. Use operation «Height Adjustment Motor, Front»(ref-406997-S37253676842011070100000) .
  1. four screws.
  1. one screw.

Install

In reverse order.

Replacing the Motor For Front Height Adjustment

For second generation power seats, replace the front height adjustment motor. See Height Adjustment Motor, Front/Rear (-2004) or Electric Motor Front Height Adjustment, Replacing (2005-).

Remove

  1. the seat from the car and the bracket. See «Bracket (Cross Stay)»(ref-406997-S29005676482011070100000)
  2. the connectors. See «Connector»(ref-406997-S40651067382011070100000) .
  1. the two screws.

Install

In reverse order.

Replacing the Motor For Rear Height Adjustment

For first generation power seats, replace the rear height adjustment motor. See Rear Height Adjustment Motor (-2004) or Electric motor rear height adjustment, replacing (2005-).

For second generation power seats, replace the rear height adjustment motor. See Height Adjustment Motor, Front/Rear (-2004) or Electric motor rear height adjustment, replacing (2005-).

Replacing the Rear Height Adjustment Motor

Remove

  1. the seat from the car and the bracket. See «Front seats, replacing (version 1)»(ref-406997-S11504856182011102500000)
  2. the connectors. See «Connector»(ref-406997-S40651067382011070100000) .
  1. the two screws (seat belt buckle).
  1. the two screws.

Install

In reverse order.

Tighten the screws for the seat belt buckle. Tighten to 48 Nm .

Installing the electric motor front height adjustment

Note. For tightening torques, see: Tightening torque .

Install

  1. the connector
  2. the electric motor
  3. the 2 M6 screws
  4. the 1 M8 screw
  5. the front seat. See: «Front seat, replacing»(ref-406997-S25802452132011070100000) .

Raise the seat to the uppermost position.

Remove

  1. the side panel. See: «Side panel front seat, replacing»(ref-406997-S15951237752011070100000)
  2. the tie strap (2)
  3. the 3 screws (1).

Remove the connector by sliding it to one side.

HINT: If the distance between the two rails differs, secure the short mechanical cable in a power screwdriver and screw until the rails are equal.

  2. the electric motor and the mechanical cables
  3. the 2 M5 screws
