Exposing the cable harness

Remove

  1. the screw from the ignition coil ground
  2. the camshaft position (CMP) sensor.

Remove

  1. the variable valve timing valve connector
  2. the ignition coil connectors.

Place the cable harness to one side.

Unscrew the cable duct from the rear edge of the cylinder head and the throttle body (TB) bracket. Release the rear edge of the cylinder head from the cables and hoses.

Remove

  1. the connector for the engine coolant temperature sensor
  2. the injector connectors.

Place the cable duct and cable harness to one side.

Mark up and remove the ignition coils and ignition cables.

Remove

  1. the rear cover for the camshaft
  2. the camshaft position (CMP) sensor housing
  3. the trigger wheel.

Wiring, installing

  1. The ground lead to the transmission
  2. The brake servo hose to the power brake booster
  3. The wiring for the starter motor
  4. The battery positive terminal
  5. Route the wiring
  6. Connect the connectors. Clamp the wiring into place.

  1. Install the expansion tank. Tighten the clamp.
  2. Tighten the cap nut on the oil cooler pipe connector on the transmission. Tighten to 30 Nm .

  1. Install and tighten the two heater hoses. Check that the hoses are correctly connected.
  2. Install the heat shield on the firewall.
