Steering Wheel Lock & Module - Replacing: Removal & Installation Volvo S60 I

Steering Column ~320 words

Removal Of Steering Column Covers

  1. Remove the ignition key (1).
  2. Remove the three screws (2).
  3. Press in the snap-in fixings and remove the lower steering column cover (3).
  4. Turn up the upper steering column cover (4).

Removal Of Steering-Column Lock Module

  1. Disconnect connectors.
  2. Press in the snap-in attachment and remove the steering-column lock module.

Removal Of Wire For Key Lock (Automatic Transmission Only)

Applies to cars with automatic transmission

  1. Remove the wire for the key lock.
  2. Set the ignition key in position I.
  3. Press up the striker plate and pull out the wire.

Removal of steering-column lock

  1. Drill out the security screws, which hold the steering-column lock.
  2. Remove the steering-column lock.

Installation Of Steering-Column Lock

  1. Insert the ignition key in the new steering-column lock.
  2. Check that the key is in position I and that the lock lug on the steering-column lock is down.
  3. Install the new steering-column lock against the cap on the steering column.
  4. Install new security screws.
  5. Tighten the security screws until screw heads break off.

Installation Of Wire For Key Lock (Automatic Transmission Only)

Applies to cars with automatic transmission

  1. Put the gear lever into position P.
  2. Set the ignition key in position I.
  3. Press in the wire in the ignition lock and feel to ensure that it is firmly fastened.
  4. Remove the ignition key and check that the gear lever is blocked in position P.

Installation Of Steering-Column Lock Module

  1. Remove the ignition key.

Install

  1. connectors
  2. steering-column lock module

Installation of steering column covers

  1. Install the lower steering column cover. NOTE: Ensure that no wires become jammed.
  2. Install the screws for the lower steering column cover.
  3. Fold down the upper steering column cover and press tight its snap-in attachments into the lower steering column cover. NOTE: Ensure that the gaiters around the control levers are correctly positioned against the column covers.

Installation

Install in reverse order.
