End mounting, seat, replacing

1. the end mounting for the front seat. See: «End mounting front, replacing»(ref-445635-S22701790072012010600000)

Scheme 395

Move the front seat as far forward as possible.

Remove the side panel. See: Side panel, replacing (-2004) or: Side panel front seat, replacing (2005-).

Note. Use a weatherstrip tool to disconnect the seat belt from the end mounting. Carefully press the locking tab, as shown in the illustration.

Remove the screw from the seat. Remove the end mounting.

Installing front end mountings

Note. For tightening torques, see: Tightening torque .

Scheme 396

Install

1. the end mounting
2. the M10 screw. Tighten.

Press the seat belt into the end mounting.

Note. A clear click is heard when the seat belt has locked correctly with the end mounting.

Note. Also check that the seat belt has locked correctly with the end mounting by looking at the reverse of the end mounting.

A = Correctly locked position.

B = If the lock facing does not lock correctly with the end mounting, see A in illustration, replace the end mounting with a new one.

Note. Check that the seat belt is secure by jerking it hard in an upwards direction.

Reinstall the side panel. See: Side panel, replacing (-2004) or: Side panel front seat, replacing (2005-).

Scheme 397

Install the front seat and the outer seat in the second row in their forward positions.

Note. Disconnect the top edge of the sill trim panel. Disconnect the seat belt from the end mounting by carefully pressing the locking tab with a weatherstrip tool, as shown in the illustration, so that the seat belt releases from the end mounting.

Remove the sill trim panel. See: Sill trim panel, replacing

Move any hoses for the air conditioning (A/C) system to one side.

Remove

1. the screw
2. the end mounting.

Installing rear end mountings (second row)

Note. For tightening torques, see: Tightening torque .

Scheme 398

Install

1. the end mounting
2. 1 M10 screw. Tighten.

Move any hoses for the air conditioning (A/C) system back into place.

Install the sill trim panel. See: Sill trim panel, replacing .

Press the seat belt into the end mounting.

Note. A clear click is heard when the seat belt has locked correctly with the end mounting.

Note. Also check that the seat belt has locked correctly with the end mounting by looking at the reverse of the end mounting.

Scheme 399

The position of the lock facing against the end mounting, with the seat belt fully inserted, must be

A = Correctly locked position.

B = If the lock facing does not lock correctly with the end mounting, see A in illustration, replace the end mounting with a new one.

Note. Check that the seat belt is secure by jerking it hard in an upwards direction.

Preparatory work

HINT: The end mounting lug, positioned between the side panel and the end mounting, is difficult to access. To release the seat belt from the end mounting, unscrew the entire end mounting from the third row of seats as follows.

Scheme 400

Slide the second row seat(s) forward and fold the backrest(s).

Slide the seat cushion(s) for the third row back.

Note. Check to see if the vehicle has a half moon access hole for the screw for the end mounting (See the illustration).

Removing rear end mountings (third row) without access hole

Make a cut-out in the seat rail for the seat cushion.

Scheme 401

Measure up the cut-out according to the following dimensions.

A=11 mm.

B=25 mm.

C=15 mm.

Scheme 402

Push the carpet to one side.

Mill out the access hole. Use a rotary file.

Scheme 403

Vacuum up the dust/debris from the milling. Wipe clean the seat rail for the seat cushion.

Fold back the carpet.

Scheme 404

Remove the screw for the end mounting. Angle out the end mounting at the lower edge and lift straight up.

Scheme 405

Remove the seat belt from the end mounting.

Installing rear end mountings (third row)

Install the seat belt to the end mounting.

Note. A clear click is heard when the seat belt has locked correctly with the end mounting.

Install the end mounting to the seat frame (1).

Note. The lower section of the end mounting must be aligned with the groove in the seat frame (2).

Install 1 M10 screw. Tighten. See: Summary of tightening torques for specific components .

Note. Check that the seat belt is secure by jerking it hard in an upwards direction.

Finishing

Pull the seat cushion(s) for the third row forward.

1. the 2 panels located above the front screws for the seat
2. the 4 x M10 screws

5. the screw. Remove the connector under the seat.

Lift out the seat.

Installing the front seat

Install the seat.

1. the connector using the screw
2. the 4 x M10 screws
3. the 2 panels
4. the end mounting. See: «End mounting front, replacing»(ref-445635-S22701790072012010600000)
5. the side panel. See: «Side panel front seat, replacing»(ref-415318-S03601010242011081500000) .

Scheme 410

Remove

1. the cover
2. the screw
3. Pull the guide to one side. Lift part of the panel over the guide. Slide the guide back to disconnect the other side.

1. Remove the lock side piece according to «Replacing the lock side piece»(ref-445635-S21473941432012010600000)
2. Remove the spring and sleeve
3. Press the button inwards at the bottom edge
4. Lift the inner cover to remove the indicator.

Remove

2. the lumbar support knob.

Slacken off the tension in lumbar support.

Carefully remove the cover.

Pull the lumbar support knob straight out.

Remove

1. the 2 mounting screws on the side of the backrest
2. the 6 hooks on both sides.

Detach the 2 mechanical cables on both sides.

Remove the lumbar support.

Installing the lumbar support in the backrest cushion

Install

1. the lumbar support
2. the 2 mechanical cables on both sides
3. the 6 hooks on both sides
4. the 2 mounting screws. Tighten
5. the backrest cushion upholstery. See «Installing backrest cushion upholstery»(ref-445634-S27957599992012010600000)
6. the lumbar support knob
7. the cover.

Tension the lumbar support.

Install

1. the front seat. See «Installing the front seat»(ref-445635-S38887124252012010600000)
2. the battery lead. See «Battery, disconnecting»(ref-415278-S03862267492011081500000) .

Lumbar support backrest cushion, replacing (2005-)

Remove

2. the backrest cushion upholstery. See: «UPHOLSTERY BACK REST, REPLACING»(ref-445634-S42771840472012010600000)
3. the protective pad. It is secured with 4 hidden clips.

Scheme 415

1. the 4 x half moon clips. Remove the padding from the backrest.

1. the 2 x mounting screws from the side of the backrest
2. the hooks, 3 on each side.

Detach the mechanical cables, 1 on each side.

Remove the lumbar support.

Note. For tightening torques, see: Tightening torque .

Installing the lumbar support

Install

1. the lumbar support
2. the 2 mounting screws. Tighten
3. the mechanical cables, 1 on each side
4. the hooks, 3 on each side
5. the padding using the 4 half moon clips
6. the protective pad
7. the backrest cushion upholstery. See: «UPHOLSTERY BACK REST, REPLACING»(ref-445634-S42771840472012010600000) .

Tension the lumbar support.

Install the front seat. See: Front seat, replacing .

Scheme 416

Remove

1. the side pieces: Pull straight up.
2. upholstery: Pull the upholstery/trim straight up.
3. two head restraint screws.

Thread the head restraint through the hole in the foam/upholstery.

Disconnect the connector.

Replace head restraint.

Install

In reverse order.

Press in the connector as late as possible.

Ensure that the cable does not come between the head restraint cassette and backrest frame.

Note. Ensure that the upholstery/foam is correctly adjusted and there are no ridges etc.

Power seat module (PSM), replacing
