INSTALLATION

  1. INSTALL CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE ASSEMBLY Install the 2 camshaft timing oil control valves with the 2 bolts. Torque: 9.0 N*m (2 kgf*cm, 80 in.*lbf) Connect the 2 connectors.
  2. INSTALL INTAKE AIR SURGE TANK . Refer to «INSTALLATION - Step 11»(ref-554377-S01682245522013052000000)
  3. INSTALL AIR CLEANER ASSEMBLY See step 2
  4. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL Torque: 5.4 N*m (5 kgf*cm, 48 in.*lbf)
  5. ADD ENGINE COOLANT . Refer to «REPLACEMENT - Step 2»(ref-554444-S32547249722013052000000)

  1. INSTALL THROTTLE WITH MOTOR BODY ASSEMBLY Install a new gasket and the throttle with motor body with the 4 bolts. Torque: 11 N*m (12 kgf*cm, 9 ft.*lbf) Connect the throttle motor connector. Connect the water by-pass hose No. 4. Connect the water by-pass hose No. 5.
  2. INSTALL AIR CLEANER ASSEMBLY Install the air cleaner with the 2 bolts. Torque: 8.0 N*m (2 kgf*cm, 71 in.*lbf) Connect the ventilation hose No. 2.
  3. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL Torque: 5.4 N*m (5 kgf*cm, 48 in.*lbf)
  4. ADD ENGINE COOLANT . Refer to «REPLACEMENT - Step 2»(ref-554444-S32547249722013052000000)
  5. INSPECT FOR ENGINE COOLANT LEAK . Refer to «REPLACEMENT - Step 3»(ref-554444-S32547249722013052000000)
  6. INSTALL V-BANK COVER Install the V-bank cover with the 2 nuts. Torque: 7.5 N*m (6 kgf*cm, 66 in.*lbf)
  7. PERFORM INITIALIZATION NOTE: Perform the following procedure after replacing the ECM, throttle body assembly or any throttle body components or after cleaning the throttle body. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal. Wait at least 60 seconds and reconnect the cable. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position without operating the accelerator pedal. NOTE: If the accelerator pedal is operated, perform the above steps again. Connect the tester to the DLC3 and clear the DTCs.Refer to «DTC CHECK / CLEAR»(ref-554459-S40410068552013052000000) . Start the engine and check that the MIL is not illuminated and that the idle speed is within the specified range when the A/C is switched off after the engine is warmed up. Standard Idle Speed Transmission Idling Speed Manual Transmission 650 to 750 RPM (With the shift lever in neutral) Automatic Transmission 700 to 800 RPM (With the shift lever in N) NOTE: Be sure to perform this step with all accessories off. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Data List / Throttle Sensor Position. Fully depress the accelerator pedal and check that the value is 60% or more. Perform a road test and confirm that there are no abnormalities.

REMOVAL

Note. Perform RESET MEMORY (AT initialization) when replacing the automatic transmission assembly, engine assembly or ECM.Refer to INITIALIZATION . Perform REGISTRATION (VIN registration) when replacing the ECM.Refer to REGISTRATION . If the ECM has been replaced or RESET MEMORY (AT initialization) has been performed, set up the function of the ATF (Automatic Transmission Fluid) temperature warning light.Refer to INITIALIZATION . Perform the Throttle body initialization when replacing the ECM See step 7 .

  1. REMOVE GLOVE COMPARTMENT DOOR ASSEMBLY . Refer to «REMOVAL - Step 43»(ref-554486-S02650684562013052000000)
  2. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY LOWER RH . Refer to «REMOVAL - Step 44»(ref-554486-S02650684562013052000000)
  3. REMOVE ECM Disconnect the 6 ECM connectors, 6 No. 2 junction block connectors and wire harness clamp. Remove the 2 bolts and nut and the ECM.
  4. REMOVE NO. 2 JUNCTION BLOCK Remove the bolt. Disengage the claw and remove the No. 2 junction block.
  5. REMOVE NO. 2 ECM BRACKET Remove the 2 screws and the No. 2 ECM bracket.
  6. REMOVE ECM BRACKET Remove the 2 screws and the ECM bracket.
  1. INSTALL ECM BRACKET Install the ECM bracket with the 2 screws. Torque: 3.0 N*m (2 kgf*cm, 28 in.*lbf)
  2. INSTALL NO. 2 ECM BRACKET Install the No. 2 ECM bracket with the 2 screws. Torque: 3.0 N*m (2 kgf*cm, 28 in.*lbf)
  3. INSTALL NO. 2 JUNCTION BLOCK Engage the claw and install the No. 2 junction block. Install the bolt. Torque: 8.0 N*m (2 kgf*cm, 71 in.*lbf)
  4. INSTALL ECM Install the ECM with the nut and 2 bolts Torque: 5.0 N*m (1 kgf*cm, 44 in.*lbf) Connect the 6 No. 2 junction block connectors, 6 ECM connectors and wire harness clamp.

  1. INSTALL ACCELERATOR PEDAL ROD ASSEMBLY NOTE: Avoid any physical impact to the accelerator pedal assembly. Do not disassemble the accelerator pedal assembly. This accelerator pedal rod assembly does not require lubrication. Do not apply oil or other lubrication to the accelerator pedal rod assembly. If applied, the accelerator pedal rod assembly must be replaced. Install the accelerator pedal rod assembly with the 2 bolts. Torque: 5 N*m (1 kgf*cm, 44 in.*lbf) Connect the accelerator pedal rod assembly connector.
  2. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL Torque: 5.4 N*m (5 kgf*cm, 48 in.*lbf)

  5. REMOVE VVT SENSOR RH bank side VVT sensor: Disconnect the VVT sensor connector. Remove the bolt and VVT sensor. LH bank side VVT sensor: Disconnect the water by-pass hoses No. 4 and No. 5. Disconnect the VVT sensor connector. Remove the bolt and VVT sensor.
  1. INSTALL VVT SENSOR LH bank side VVT sensor: Apply a light coat of engine oil to the O-ring of the VVT sensor. Install the VVT sensor with the bolt. Torque: 8.0 N*m (2 kgf*cm, 71 in.*lbf) Connect the VVT sensor connector. Connect the water by-pass hoses No. 4 and No. 5. RH bank side VVT sensor: Apply a light coat of engine oil to the O-ring of the VVT sensor. Install the VVT sensor with the bolt. Torque: 8.0 N*m (2 kgf*cm, 71 in.*lbf) Connect the VVT sensor connector.

  5. SEPARATE COOLER COMPRESSOR ASSEMBLY Remove the bolt, then separate the suction hose sub-assembly. Disconnect the cooler compressor assembly connector. Remove the 4 bolts, then separate the cooler compressor assembly from the V-ribbed belt tensioner assembly.
  6. REMOVE CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR Disconnect the crankshaft position sensor connector. Remove the bolt, then remove the crankshaft position sensor.

Scheme 30: INSPECTION
  1. INSPECT CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR Check the resistance. Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between the terminals. Standard 1850 to 2450 ohms at 20°C (68°F) If the result is not as specified, replace the crankshaft position sensor.
  1. INSTALL CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR Apply a light coat of engine oil to the O-ring of the crankshaft position sensor. Install the crankshaft position sensor with the bolt. Torque: 10 N*m (02 kgf*cm, 7.4 ft.*lbf) Connect the crankshaft position sensor connector.
  2. INSTALL COOLER COMPRESSOR ASSEMBLY Install the cooler compressor assembly with the 4 bolts. Torque: 25 N*m (55 kgf*cm, 18 ft.*lbf) Connect the cooler compressor assembly connector. Install the suction hose sub-assembly with the bolt. Torque: 8.0 N*m (2 kgf*cm, 71 in.*lbf)
  3. INSTALL GENERATOR ASSEMBLY . Refer to «INSTALLATION - Step 1»(ref-554487-S12769432732013052000000)
  4. INSTALL FAN SHROUD . Refer to «INSTALLATION - Step 4»(ref-554444-S00471929182013052000000)

Scheme 32: INSPECTION
  1. INSPECT ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR Check the resistance. Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between the terminals. Resistance Tester Connection Specified Condition 1 (E2) - 2 (THW) 2.32 to 2.59 kohms at 20°C (68°F) 1 (E2) - 2 (THW) 0.310 to 0.326 kohms at 80°C (176°F) NOTE: If checking the engine coolant temperature sensor in water, be careful not to allow water to enter the terminals. After checking, wipe the water off the engine coolant temperature sensor. If the result is not as specified, replace the engine coolant temperature sensor.

  1. INSPECT KNOCK SENSOR Check the resistance. Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between the terminals. Resistance Standard Tester Connection Specified Condition 1 (Ground) - 2 (Output) 120 to 180 ohms at 20°C (68°F) If the result is not as specified, replace the knock sensor.

  1. INSTALL KNOCK SENSOR Install the 2 knock sensors with the 2 bolts as shown in the illustration. Torque: 20 N*m (04 kgf*cm, 15 ft.*lbf) Connect the 2 knock sensor connectors.
  2. INSTALL WATER OUTLET PIPE NO. Install the water outlet pipe with the 3 bolts. Torque: 9.0 N*m (2 kgf*cm, 80 in.*lbf) Install the 4 wire harness clamps.

  25. REMOVE WATER OUTLET PIPE NO. Remove the 4 wire harness clamps. Remove the 3 bolts and water outlet pipe.
  26. REMOVE KNOCK CONTROL SENSOR Disconnect the 2 knock sensor connectors. Remove the 2 bolts and 2 knock sensors.
