DTC P0463: FUEL LEVEL SENSOR CIRCUIT VOLTAGE HIGH Suzuki X-90 I

  1. Turn ignition on. On models with 3-speed automatic or manual transmission, measure voltage between ground and PCM harness connector "A", terminal No. 3 (Yellow/Red wire). On models with 4-speed automatic transmission, measure voltage between ground and PCM harness connector "C", terminal No. 3 (Yellow/Red wire). If reading is 7-9 volts, go to next step. If reading is less than 7 volts, check for an intermittent problem. See «TESTS W/O CODES»(ref-26207) article. If reading is 9-14 volts, check Yellow/Red wire for short to power. Repair as necessary. If wire is okay, replace fuel level gauge. Retest system.
  2. Turn ignition off. Disconnect fuel level sensor harness connector. Using a fused jumper wire, jump terminals of harness connector together. Turn ignition on. On models with 3-speed automatic or manual transmission, measure voltage between ground and PCM harness connector "A", terminal No. 3 (Yellow/Red wire). On models with 4-speed automatic transmission, measure voltage between ground and PCM harness connector "C", terminal No. 3 (Yellow/Red wire). If reading is 7-9 volts, go to next step. If reading is 0-1 volt, replace fuel level sensor. Retest system.
  3. Measure voltage between connected jumper wire and ground. If reading is 7-9 volts, repair open sensor ground (Black wire). If reading is 0-1 volt, repair open Yellow/Red wire. Retest system.
