DTC P0117: ENGINE COOLANT TEMP. (ECT) SENSOR CKT LOW INPUT Suzuki X-90 I

  1. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). Turn ignition on. Select ECT sensor parameter on scan tool. If display reads higher than 279°F (138°C), go to next step. If display reading is 176-194°F (80-90°C) at normal operating temperature, check for an intermittent problem. See «TESTS W/O CODES»(ref-26207) article.
  2. Disconnect ECT sensor harness connector. If display reading drops to -40°F (-40°C) or less, replace ECT. If display reading is not as specified, check Red/Yellow wire for short to Gray/Yellow wire or ground. If wire is okay, replace PCM. Retest system.
