Exterior Lights 19 illustrations ~2016 words

CAUTION

  1. Before removing or installing parts, always disconnect the battery ground cable from battery. When replacing the audio, control module and other parts provided with memory functions, record the memory contents before disconnecting the battery ground cable. Otherwise, the memory is cleared.
  2. Reassemble the parts in the reverse order of disassembly procedure unless otherwise indicated.
  3. Adjust parts to the given specifications.
  4. Connect the connectors securely when reassembling.
  5. After reassembly, make sure that the functional parts operate normally.
  6. The airbag system wiring harness is routed near electrical parts and switches. Color of the airbag system wiring harness and connector is yellow. Do not use electrical test equipment on these circuits.
  7. Be careful not to damage the airbag system wiring harness when servicing electrical parts and switches.

  1. Remove the fuse and check visually.
  2. If the fuse is blown out, replace the fuse.

  2. Replace the relay if it is found defective.

AUTO HEADLIGHT SYSTEM CHECK

DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE Step Check Yes No 1 CHECK HEADLIGHT ILLUMINATION. Set the lighting switch to the switch 1 (TAIL) and switch 2 (HEAD). Do the tail and headlight illuminate? Go to step 2 . Check the combination switch (light) and headlight bulb. 2 CHECK INPUT SIGNAL. Prepare the Subaru Select Monitor kit. Turn the ignition switch to ON (engine OFF) and run the "PC application for Subaru Select Monitor". On « System Selection Menu» display, select {Integ. unit mode}. Select the {Lighting AUTO input) from {Current Data Display & Save}. Does the display switch between OFF <=>ON when the lighting switch is moved to AUTO position? Go to step 3 . Go to step 7 . 3 CHECK INPUT SIGNAL. From {Current Data Display & Save}, select {Illumination Sensor Output}. Light up the darkness around light control sensor. Is the value depending on the brightness output? (darkness: 47 - 53 Hz) Check and replace the body integrated unit. Inspection: Ref. to BASIC DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE . Replacement: Ref. to BODY INTEGRATED UNIT . Go to step 4 . 4 CHECK HARNESS. Disconnect the body integrated unit connector and light control sensor connector. Check the continuity between body integrated unit connector and light control sensor connector. Connector & terminal (B280) No. 9 - (i194) No. 6: (B280) No. 19 - (i194) No. 4: (B280) No. 29 - (i194) No. 3: Is there continuity? Go to step 5 . Repair or replace the harness. 5 CHECK BODY INTEGRATED UNIT. Connect the body integrated unit connector. Turn the ignition switch to ON. Measure the voltage between the body integrated unit. Connector & terminal (B280) No. 9 (+) - No. 29 (-): Is the voltage 10 V or more? Go to step 6 . Replace the body integrated unit. Ref. to BODY INTEGRATED UNIT . 6 CHECK LIGHT CONTROL SENSOR. Connect the light control sensor connector. Turn the ignition switch to ON. Set the lighting switch to AUTO position. Connect the Subaru Select Monitor, and read the waveform data between light control sensor connector. Connector & terminal (i194) No. 5 - No. 3: Is waveform normal? (Interval of A becomes shorter as the surrounding becomes brighter.) Go to step 7 . Replace the light control sensor. 7 CHECK COMBINATION SWITCH (LIGHT). Check the combination switch (light). Ref. to INSPECTION , Combination Switch (Light). Is the combination switch (light) normal? Go to step 8 . Replace the combination switch (light). 8 CHECK HARNESS. Disconnect the body integrated unit connector and light control sensor connector. Check the continuity between body integrated unit connector and light control sensor connector. DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHT SYSTEM CHECK

  2. Measure the resistance between hazard switch terminals.   1. Remove the turn signal and hazard module.
  2. Apply battery voltage to the turn signal and hazard module.

HIGH BEAM

CAUTIONBecause the halogen bulb operates at a high temperature, dirt and oil on the bulb surface reduces the bulb's service life. Hold the flange portion when replacing the bulb. Never touch the glass portion. Do not leave the headlight without a bulb for a long time. Dust, moisture, etc. entering the headlight may affect its performance.

  3. Disconnect the connector and remove the headlight high beam bulb.

LOW BEAM

  1. Disconnect the ground cable from battery.
  2. Remove the clips and remove the air intake duct. (When removing the headlight low beam bulb RH)
  3. Turn the steering wheel in the opposite direction to the headlight to be removed. Then remove the clips and turn over the mud guard.
  4. Remove the headlight low beam bulb. Remove the back cover. Unlock the bulb socket and bulb spring, and remove the headlight low beam bulb.

SPOT MAP LIGHT BULB

  1. Visually check the bulb for blow out.
  2. Check the bulb specification. Ref. to «SPECIFICATION»(ref-371943-S41422570062010091900000) , General Description.
  3. Replace the bulb if it is found defective.

OVERHEAD CONSOLE ILLUMINATION LIGHT BULB

Note. Since LEDs (Light Emitting Diode) are used for the overhead console illumination light bulb, replace the overhead console assembly if an LED bums out.

  2. Remove the room light. Release the claws and remove the cover. Remove the screws. Disconnect the connector and remove the room light and bulb.

ROOM LIGHT BULB

  1. Visually check the bulb for blow out.
  2. Check the bulb specification. Ref. to «SPECIFICATION»(ref-371943-S41422570062010091900000) , General Description.
  3. If NG, replace the bulb with a new part.

  2. Remove the luggage room light. Release the claws and remove the luggage room light main body. Disconnect the connector and remove the luggage room light.
  3. Release the claws, and detach the luggage room light cover and bulb.

  1. Visually check the bulb for blow out.
  2. Check the bulb specification. Ref. to «SPECIFICATION»(ref-371943-S41422570062010091900000) , General Description.
  3. If NG, replace the bulb with a new part.

  2. Remove the trunk room light Disconnect the connector. Turn the trunk room light counterclockwise to 60° and remove the light.
  3. Release the claws, and detach the trunk room light cover and bulb.
