Lighting System: Diagnosis Subaru Outback BR

INSPECTION

For the inspection of the light control sensor, refer to AUTO HEADLIGHT SYSTEM CHECK of Headlight System. Ref. to AUTO HEADLIGHT SYSTEM CHECK , INSPECTION, Headlight System.

  1. Visually check the bulb for blow out.
  2. Check the bulb specification. Ref. to «SPECIFICATION»(ref-371943-S41422570062010091900000) , General Description.
  3. Replace the bulb if it is found defective.

  1. Disconnect the ground cable from battery.
  2. Remove the clips and remove the air intake duct. (When removing the front turn signal light bulb RH)
  3. Remove the fender cover assembly UPR. Remove the clip. Release the claws of the fender cover assembly UPR by pulling it forward and remove the fender cover.
  4. Remove the bulb socket and turn signal light bulb.
  1. Visually check the bulb for blow out.
  2. Check the bulb specification. Ref. to «SPECIFICATION»(ref-371943-S41422570062010091900000) , General Description.
  3. If NG, replace the bulb with a new part.

  1. Disconnect the ground cable from battery.
  2. Remove the clips and remove the air intake duct. (When removing the front clearance light bulb RH)
  3. Remove the bulb socket and clearance light bulb. NOTE: Move the battery rearward as required. (When removing the front clearance light bulb LH)
  1. Visually check the bulb for blow out.
  2. Check the bulb specification. Ref. to «SPECIFICATION»(ref-371943-S41422570062010091900000) , General Description.
  3. Replace the bulb if it is found defective.

  1. Disconnect the ground cable from battery.
  2. Remove the clips and remove the air intake duct. (When removing the front turn signal light bulb RH)
  3. Turn the steering wheel in the opposite direction to the headlight to be removed. Then remove the clips and turn over the mud guard.
  4. Remove the bulb socket and turn signal light bulb.
  1. Visually check the bulb for blow out.
  2. Check the bulb specification. Ref. to «SPECIFICATION»(ref-371943-S41422570062010091900000) , General Description.
  3. If NG, replace the bulb with a new part.

  1. Disconnect the ground cable from battery.
  2. Remove the clips and turn over the front end of front mud guard.
  3. From the bottom of bumper face, remove the front fog light assembly. Disconnect the connector. Remove the bolts, and remove the front fog light assembly.
  1. Visually check the bulb for blow out.
  2. Check the bulb specification. Ref. to «SPECIFICATION»(ref-371943-S41422570062010091900000) , General Description.
  3. If NG, replace the bulb with a new part.

  1. Disconnect the ground cable from battery.
  2. Remove the mirror. Ref. to «REPLACEMENT»(ref-371951-S36899040762010091900000) , Outer Mirror.
  3. Remove the scalp cap. Ref. to «REPLACEMENT»(ref-371951-S07447924372010091900000) , Scalp Cap.
  4. Remove the side turn signal light assembly. Remove the screws and pull out the side turn signal light assembly. Disconnect the connector and remove the side turn signal light assembly.
  1. Install the side turn signal light assembly and check that it blinks normally.
  2. If it is found not to blink normally, replace the side turn signal light assembly with a new part. NOTE: Since LED (Light Emitting Diode) is used for the side turn signal light, replace the side turn signal light assembly if the LED burns out.

  1. Disconnect the ground cable from battery.
  2. Remove the trunk room trim. Ref. to «REMOVAL»(ref-371913-S04463397832010091900000) , Trunk Room Trim.
  3. Remove the rear combination light assembly. Disconnect the connector. Release the nuts and clips, then remove the rear combination light assembly. CAUTION: Be careful not to damage the clips.

  1. Disconnect the ground cable from battery.
  2. Remove the clips and detach the rear combination light covers.
  3. Remove the rear combination light assembly. CAUTION: Be careful not to damage the clips. Release the bolts and clips, then pull out the rear combination light assembly to the vehicle rear. Disconnect the connector and remove the rear combination light assembly.
  1. Visually check the bulb for blow out.
  2. Check the bulb specification. Ref. to «SPECIFICATION»(ref-371943-S41422570062010091900000) , General Description.
  3. Replace the bulb if it is found defective.

  1. Rear combination light side Disconnect the ground cable from battery. Release the lock and remove the bulb inspection cover of trunk room trim. Remove the bulb socket and tail light/stop light bulb.
  2. Rear finisher light side Disconnect the ground cable from battery. Remove the trunk lid trim. Ref. to «TRUNK LID TRIM»(ref-371913-S05458118932010091900000) , REMOVAL, Trunk Room Trim. Remove the bulb socket and tail light bulb

  1. Rear combination light side Disconnect the ground cable from battery. Remove the clips and detach the rear combination light covers. Remove the rear combination light assembly. CAUTION: Be careful not to damage the clips. Release the bolts and clips, then pull out the rear combination light assembly to the vehicle rear. Disconnect the connector and remove the rear combination light assembly. Remove the bulb sockets and bulbs.
  2. Rear finisher light side Release the claws and remove the bulb inspection cover of rear gate trim Remove the bulb socket and tail light bulb.
  1. Visually check the bulb for blow out.
  2. Check the bulb specification. Ref. to «SPECIFICATION»(ref-371943-S41422570062010091900000) , General Description.
  3. If NG, replace the bulb with a new part.

  1. Disconnect the ground cable from battery.
  2. Release the lock and remove the bulb inspection cover of trunk room trim.
  3. Remove the bulb socket and rear turn signal light bulb.

  2. Remove the clips and detach the rear combination light covers.
  3. Remove the rear combination light assembly. CAUTION: Be careful not to damage the clips. Release the bolts and clips, then pull out the rear combination light assembly to the vehicle rear. Disconnect the connector and remove the rear combination light assembly.
  4. Remove the bulb socket and rear turn signal light bulb.
  1. Visually check the bulb for blow out.
  2. Check the bulb specification. Ref. to «SPECIFICATION»(ref-371943-S41422570062010091900000) , General Description.
  3. If NG, replace the bulb with a new part.

  1. Disconnect the ground cable from battery.
  2. Remove the trunk lid trim. Ref. to «REMOVAL»(ref-371913-S04463397832010091900000) , Trunk Room Trim.
  3. Remove the rear finisher light assembly. Disconnect the connector. Remove the nuts and bolts and remove the rear finisher light assembly.

  1. Disconnect the ground cable from battery.
  2. Remove the rear gate trim. Ref. to «REMOVAL»(ref-371913-S08923726492010091900000) , Rear Gate Trim.
  3. Remove the rear gate garnish. Ref. to «REMOVAL»(ref-371913-S18855655862010091900000) , Rear Gate Garnish.
  4. Release the clips and claws, then detach the rear finisher light side cover.
  5. Remove the rear finisher light assembly. Disconnect the connector. Remove the nuts and release the pin, then remove the rear finisher light assembly.
  1. Visually check the bulb for blow out.
  2. Check the bulb specification. Ref. to «SPECIFICATION»(ref-371943-S41422570062010091900000) , General Description.
  3. If NG, replace the bulb with a new part.

  1. Disconnect the ground cable from battery.
  2. Remove the trunk lid trim. Ref. to «TRUNK LID TRIM»(ref-371913-S05458118932010091900000) , REMOVAL, Trunk Room Trim.
  3. Remove the trunk lid garnish. Ref. to «REMOVAL»(ref-371913-S03561126472010091900000) , Trunk Lid Garnish.
  4. Disconnect the connector and remove the bulb socket.
  5. Remove the license plate light.

  1. Disconnect the ground cable from battery.
  2. Remove the screws and remove the license plate light. NOTE: When removing the license plate light assembly harness, remove the following parts. Rear gate garnish: Ref. to «REMOVAL»(ref-371913-S18855655862010091900000) , Rear Gate Garnish. Rear gate opener button: Ref. to «REMOVAL»(ref-371927-S27716187542010091900000) , Rear Gate Opener Button.
  1. Visually check the bulb for blow out.
  2. Check the bulb specification. Ref. to «SPECIFICATION»(ref-371943-S41422570062010091900000) , General Description.
  3. If NG, replace the bulb with a new part.

  1. Disconnect the ground cable from battery.
  2. Remove the rear shelf trim. Ref. to «REMOVAL»(ref-371913-S09298357022010091900000) , Rear Shelf Trim.
  3. Remove the high-mounted stop light. Disconnect the connector. Remove the lock washers and remove the high-mounted stop light.

  1. Disconnect the ground cable from battery.
  2. Remove the rear gate upper trim. Release the claws in the trim end. Disconnect the claws in the center of trim, and remove the rear gate upper trim.
  3. Remove the high-mounted stop light. Remove the nuts and take out the high-mounted stop light toward vehicle rear. Disconnect the connector and remove the high-mounted stop light.
  1. Install the high-mounted stop light to test if it illuminates normally.
  2. If the high-mounted stop light does not illuminate, replace it with a new part. NOTE: Since LED (Light Emitting Diode) is used for the high-mounted stop light, replace the high-mounted stop light assembly if the LED burns out.
  1. Visually check the bulb for blow out.
  2. Check the bulb specification. Ref. to «SPECIFICATION»(ref-371943-S41422570062010091900000) , General Description.
  3. If NG, replace the bulb with a new part.

  1. Disconnect the ground cable from battery.
  2. Remove the glove box. Ref. to «REMOVAL»(ref-371913-S39590011122010091900000) , Glove Box.
  3. Remove the glove box light from the glove box back panel.
  1. Install the glove box light and test if it illuminates normally.
  2. If it is found not to illuminate normally, replace the glove box light with a new part. NOTE: Since LED (Light Emitting Diode) is used for the glove box light, replace the glove box light assembly if the LED burns out.

  1. Disconnect the ground cable from battery.
  2. Remove the door step light. CAUTION: Be careful not to damage light and door trim. Insert a flat tip screwdriver into the slit of the door step light to release the claw. Disconnect the connector and remove the door step light.
  1. Visually check the bulb for blow out.
  2. Check the bulb specification. Ref. to «SPECIFICATION»(ref-371943-S41422570062010091900000) , General Description.
  3. If NG, replace the bulb with a new part.

  1. Disconnect the ground cable from battery.
  2. Remove the steering column cover. Remove the screws by turning the steering wheel to right and left. Release the claws and remove the steering column lower cover. Separate the steering column upper cover and steering upper cover, and remove the steering column upper cover.
  3. Remove the bulb socket and ignition switch illumination bulb. NOTE: If the bulb socket is faulty, replace the ignition key lock. Ref. to «IGNITION KEY LOCK»(ref-371927-S04660218652010091900000) .

  1. Remove the front bumper face assembly. Ref. to «REMOVAL»(ref-371913-S11677829322010091900000) , Front Bumper.
  2. Remove the daytime running resistor. Disconnect the connector. Remove the bolt, and remove the daytime running resistor.

Refer to DOOR SWITCH CHECK of Interior Light System. Ref. to CHECK DOOR SWITCH. , INSPECTION, Interior Light System.
