DTC P0325 (KNOCK) - KNOCK SENSOR (KS) CIRCUIT MALFUNCTION Subaru Outback BG

  1. Turn ignition off. Disconnect ECM harness connector. Check resistance between ECM harness connector terminal No. 3 and chassis ground. If resistance is 700 k/ohms or greater, go to next step. If resistance is less than 400 k/ohms, go to step 3).
  2. Disconnect KS harness connector. Check resistance between KS harness connector terminal No. 1 and chassis ground. See appropriate wiring diagram in «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-26255) article. If resistance is less than 700 k/ohms, check and repair open in harness between ECM and KS connector, poor contact of KS connector or poor contact in coupling between KS and ECM. If resistance is 700 k/ohms or greater, ensure KS installation bolt is secure. If installation bolt is loose, tighten securely. If installation bolt is secure, replace KS.
  3. Disconnect ECM harness connector. Check resistance between ECM harness connector terminal No. 3 and chassis ground. If resistance is 400 k/ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 400 k/ohms, go to step 5).
  4. Disconnect KS harness connector. Check resistance between KS terminal No. 1 and chassis ground. If resistance is 400 k/ohms or less, replace sensor. If resistance is greater than 400 k/ohms, check for short to ground in harness between KS and ECM connector.
  5. Reconnect ECM and KS harness connectors. Turn ignition on. Using DVOM connected to chassis ground, backprobe ECM harness terminal No. 3. If voltage reading is less than 2 volts, repair poor contact in ECM connector. If voltage reading is 2 volts or greater, circuit has returned to normal. Check for poor contact at KS connector, ECM connector and coupling connector between KS and ECM.
